12. Sometimes it Doesn't Work.

Season 3 Episode 2: The Hybrid

Lilith, Klaus, and Stefan were walking through the forest on the mountains heading towards Ray's pack. Stefan has the unconscious werewolf on his shoulders. "You okay? Is Ray getting heavy?" Klaus asked the vampire after a minute. Lilith turned her head to look at Stefan before she faced forwards once more.

"I'm fine." Stefan said.

"You sure about that? You know, we've been walking for quite some time now. If you need some water or a little sit-down..." Klaus says, all friendly, before Stefan cuts him off.

"You know, I get that we're, uh...we're stuck together, but if we could maybe just skip the chitchat, it'd be great." Stefan finished and Lilith rolled her eyes before turning around.

"So much brooding. Your self-loathing is suffocating you." Lilith said with a small smile she shook her head. Klaus grabbed her hand and pulled her into his side after she spoke. Stefan eyed their conjoined hands before shaking his head.

"Maybe it's 'cause I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer."

"Thanks to our pal Ray, we found ourselves a pack. There." Klaus says as they all stop. In front of them was a campsite, the campsite of Ray's pack. Stefan walks closer and the group look at him. He drops Ray to the ground and they all watch as a woman runs over.

"Ray! Oh, my God. What's going on? Who are you?" Klaus and Lilith walk closer to Stefan.

"The important question is who am I. Please forgive the intrusion. My name is Klaus." Lilith rolls her eyes at Klaus' dramatics but she smiles anyway.

"You're the hybrid." The woman said simply.

"You've heard of me. Fantastic." Klaus smiles. A few minutes later the group was listening to Klaus as he spoke. "It's fascinating, actually...A werewolf who isn't beholden to the moon, a vampire who doesn't burn in the sun. A true hybrid." Lilith has a proud smile on her face as she walked around the group. She knew she was putting them on edge but she didn't care.

Ray suddenly wakes up and she stops walking. "Excellent timing, Ray. Very dramatic." Klaus said as he looked at the man.

"What's happening to me?" Ray asks, panic clear in his voice.

"Stefan?" Stefan stands at Klaus' call.

"Are any of you human? Your friend here needs human blood to complete his transition to vampire. If he doesn't get it, he will die." Stefan asked the group.

"Doesn't take much, just a sip. Anyone? A boyfriend, a girlfriend, along for the ride?" Klaus looks at a man and points at him. "You!" Klaus shouts and Lilith grabs him before he can move. Lilith used her claws to make a cut in the man's forearm before pushing him to the ground in front of Ray. A woman tries to protest but Klaus starts to strangle her.

"If you don't drink it, Ray, I will. Problem is I don't know how to stop." Stefan said ominously and the girl in Klaus' hand started to struggle.

"It's the new order, sweetheart. You join us, or you die." Klaus said as he looked at her.

"I'd rather die than be a vampire." The woman says defiantly.
