I run but still hear footsteps behind me. The streetlights don't light the whole path, I'm stuck in the dark. They are still following me. My feet pound against the floor, my heart pounds against my chest. I turn the corner but they don't stop. I want to look, see the person, but instinct stops me. As I turn back, one foot slides out beneath me. I fly to the floor. My shoulders ricochet off the pavement, before hitting it once again. My face smacks the concrete and black spots cloud the edges of my vision. The last thing I see is red.
