The next morning, things seemed to have calmed down quite a bit. The trio walked into the school grounds first thing in the morning because Clement insisted that they made sure everything was in place. (Y/N) could tell that it was his paranoia that was making him double-check everything but, of course, there's wrong in making sure.

(Y/N) gazed around the courtyard and found everything already set in their places. The tables were turned on their side, several wooden stakes were rooted in the ground with a walker's head stuck on top of one—because apparently, it looked threatening. She then noticed Mitch sitting on one of the picnic benches on the side, his back hunched as he poked around a, rather large, tin can.

She then turned to look at AJ who walked beside her, maintaining her pace as he half-heartedly trudged. She stifled a laugh when he yawned.

"Ready to work today, kiddo?" She asked, looking at him with a gentle smile.

"Bad dreams always make me more tired. . ." He replied, his eyes appearing exhausted as he looked up at her. "But I slept better in your bed."

She nodded, placing a hand on his head and patting it. "That's good to know."

AJ looked from her to the lookout tower. "It's my turn for lookout."

She followed his line of sight and found Tenn waving at them, trying to get AJ's attention. AJ also waved back and began walking to him, leaving (Y/N) and Clement to their work.

"Where's he going?" Clement asked as he watched AJ rush towards the lookout tower.

"He's on duty today." She answered instead of AJ, turning towards him. "Tenn asked him to do it because he's been resting for weeks now."

"He looks excited to get back to working." Clement watched the two kids talking from afar, a smile on his face. ". .They look like they're good friends, right?"
