Gah!
I tried throwing the snot-covered tissue into the small black bin in the corner of my room, but like all the others I previously threw, it landed right next to the bin. I sighed and shifted my attention back to Supernatural which was playing on my T.V.
I hade gotten the flu from my little sister, Valerie, who had flown out from Boston, Massachusetts (My hometown) for her birthday.
And she's still here. Actually staying with me for a while because my parents decided they were gonna get a divorce. This of course freaked Valerie out because she was so young.
But Conner and I weren't phased because our entire life both of Our parents would talk bad behind each other's back. So we had seen it coming, even if it was sooner or later. In this case, later.
Speaking of, Conner got into her dream school in NYC. So I was stuck taking care of my sister all by myself.
Which, would normally be fine since I'm 24 and she's 12, but because I'm sick, it's way harder.
How am I supposed to take care of a tween, who may I say is quite the rude thing, when I can't even take care of myself?
Right now I was fine because she was downstairs working on her online courses. I hope.
"Val! Come up here for a sec!" I heard a loud groan from the 1st floor, followed by loud stomps coming up the stairs.
The door swung open to reveal my tall sister. Like seriously, she was 5,1.She's my height.
"What, Lana?" She questioned, annoyance laced in her tone as she crossed her long arms.
I sarcastically smiled at her. "What are you doing on my computer? You've been awfully quite down there." I said, squinting my eyes at her.
She uncrossed her arms while looking at the ground. Her mouth opened and fell closed again. As she looked up at me to say something, the small phone on my left bedside rang.
"Hold that thought." I said, still holding my squinted gaze. She rolled her eyes before returning to her crossed arms position as she plopped down onto bay window on the left side of my room.
I grabbed the vibrating phone as I flipped it open, the call immediately starting.
"Hello?" I asked, sniffing as I felt liquid snot run down the insides of my bat cave.
"I called to see if you were okay but in that sniffle, I could hear pure sickness." I immediately recognized the voice of the person on the other side of my phone line. Jim Halpert.
"Oh, hey Jim." I smiled, trying my best not to sound stuffy and completely failing. I slid my legs of of the left side of my bed and my feet hit the cold carpet, if it's even possible for a carpet to be cold.
I started walking around the room, ignoring the goosebumps I was getting on my stubbly legs as I walked throughout the pastel room.
"Yeah, I'm sorry I haven't called you or Pam. I've just been busy...and sick." I said, adverting my gaze to Valerie.
"Ooh, I guess the trip to Chucky cheese was more germy than fun, huh?" He asked, genuine worry laced in his tone. I smiled, bringing my sleeve up to my mouth as I bit the fabric slightly.
"Ooh, close." I inhaled sharply as a joke. He muttered a slight noise in disappointment as I chuckled.
"No, actually my 12 year old beast of a sister," I started, looking over at Val once again as she sharply turned to look at me.
"I'm right here." She complained, pointing at herself as she stuck her tongue out at me. Me being The child I was, mirrored her as I continued my conversation with my Jim.
"Flew in from Boston, and she was recovering from the Flu. Still not sure why or how they let her board. Anyways, hugs were had, and germs, were spread." I finished, suddenly exploding into a coughing fit. I could hear him laugh over the phone.
"Just know halpert," I started, coughing in between each word.
"I am flipping you off right now." I said a friendly tone heard through my voice as I shut the phone throwing it on my bed.
I brung the arm I was just vigorously coughing into, down to my side again as I threw the phone onto my bed.
I looked over at my sister who was staring back at me with a smug smile.
I squinted at her once again as sat on my bed.
"What?" I groaned, falling back onto my bed.
"You like him." I laughed, looking over at her expecting her to be laughing with me. Of course I liked him, but she was 12. She didn't have to know that. Plus, although she acts all tough, she can't lie or keep a secret for anything.
"No, Val, I don't." I said, sitting up to face her.
"Where did you even get that idea from?" I asked, grabbing the twizzlers that sat on my bedside.
I pulled one out as I dropped the bag next to my side and leaned back onto my hand, taking a bite.
"Well, for starters. You eat twizzlers when your happy. And on the phone call with...Jim," I immediately ripped the piece of twizzlers out between my teeth and dropped it where the bags was and sat up straight.
"You smiled so much, and affection was definitely evident in your eyes, as wel-" I cut her off while sighing.
"Okay, I may or may not have feeling for him. But that's none of your business. And also, where did you learn all of that?" I asked, leaning towards her although she was about 7 feet away from me.
"I learned it from all the movies I've been watching on your com-" I threw a pillow at her as she laughed and ran out of my room.
I laughed as I fell back onto my bed and got comfortable, getting into supernatural again.
