Conner understood. Once Wally sensed he understood, he sighed. "I know a place I can take him. I can get him there and stay with him, in case the guy comes back." Kaldur nodded. "Would anyone else like to go with them?" Artemis, Mal, and Beast Boy stepped forward. Wally nodded.
Wally picked Nightwing up bridal style, leaning his head on his shoulder. Dick didn't move, he was too tired and sore, and Wally had him in a comfortable position. He trusted Wally, especially with his body and mind in its condition.
The small team exited through the zeta beams, all satisfied they worked. Wally led them to a small house, one floor five rooms. Wally brought Dick to the bedroom and laid him in the bed, covering him with the blanket. Wally sat on the bed next to Dick, grabbing his hand.
Mal, Artemis, and Beast Boy were in the living room. "Anyone else thinking Wally's acting weird?" Mal whispered. "Nightwing is special to him. But even then, yeah. He's acting way weird." Artemis nodded. "Maybe it's the sickness?" Beast Boy suggested.
"That still doesn't explain it. Whenever I was sick, he never acted this weird." Artemis nearly growled. She was a little jealous of the bird. Wally had never been like that for her." "They have a different relationship than you two had. Wally's gonna react differently. You just need to roll with the punches." Mal shrugged.
Wally sighed, running his fingers through Dick's hair. "I love you, Dickie." Dick didn't respond. Wally didn't expect him to. Whatever this mental illness was, it was bad. It was like when Dick was too cold, and couldn't do anything. He was just there, a limp body that resembled the dead.
Dick, however, managed to roll onto his side. His head rested on Wally's thigh, which Wally smiled at. Whether it was an accident or in purpose, Dick knew he was there. Wally resumed his actions, running his fingers through the silky hair. It was a little sweaty, but that was ok. As long as Dick was breathing, it would be alright.
It was three hours before the small group was contacted. Kaldur had informed them that the man was caught and imprisoned, and that they merely needed to meet up again. Wally carried Dick to the watchtower, cradling his tired body.
When Wally had woken back in the mountain, he'd raced to Dick's side. Dick had managed to crack his eyes open, but not for long. The others had been cleared out of the room, J'ohnn coming to check on the youngest. Wally held Dick's hand again, rubbing circles on the back of it.
J'ohnn had confirmed M'gann's prediction. It was a mental sickness, brought on by the teleportation. J'ohnn suggested a week of resting before trying anything else. The mental sickness would take a few days to dissipate. Dick would need to be watched at all times, but would be alright.
Wally took Dick to the manor. The other batkids had demanded to know what happened, who hurt their brother. When Wally explained what happened, they directed the speedster to the couch. Wally laid down, holding Dick to his chest. Dick snuggled into Wally, head resting on Wally's collarbone. Dick would definitely have someone with him at all times, Wally thought.
