Slowly, Rose- uh, rose from the ground. She put her hands behind her head and turned to face the two policemen, walking backwards to Logan. "Why didn't you warn me?" she whispers out of the side of her mouth as the keeps her eyes on the gun pointing at her.
"I tried to! But you kept telling me to wait!" Logan replies, a bead of sweat running down his forehead.
"Well then-" Rose says, but is cut off by the man in front of her.
"Shut up and keep your hands where I can see them!" the man shouts. He slowly walks towards them, motioning towards his partner to do the same. "Now... Who are you and why are you here? You two are obviously not from around here."
"We're-" Rose begins to say, her brain working furiously to think of some sort of excuse.
"Wait!" the man's partner shouts, interrupting her train of thought. "You look so familiar. Do I know you?"
"Obviously not; I just said that they weren't from around here!" the man shouts. "You're such an idiot, Anderson!"
The man's partner, whom Rose was assuming was Anderson, flinched at his harsh words. "Sorry, Blake. But don't that girl look familiar?"
"I don't know, maybe. All I know is that alarms went off when these two set foot inside the boundaries," the man, Blake, says to his partner. He turns back to look at the two kids. "Now who are you and what is your business here?"
"And you better tell the truth," Anderson says, his gun shaking slightly in his hands. "We can tell when you're lying."
With a sigh, Rose tells them the truth. "I'm Rose and this is Logan. We ran away from a lab and we're trying to find my parents."
"Your name is Rose?" Anderson says in a shocked voice. He turns to look at Blake, a triumphant look on is face. "I told you, Blake! I told you! It's her, it's got to be her!"
"What's got to be me?" Rose asks, her curiosity getting the better of her. She makes an attempt to get closer to them to find out, but Logan extends his arm out, stopping her in her tracks.
"It's her!" Anderson screams at Blake, placing both hands on his shouders and shaking him. "It's Rose; the missing baby from 15 years ago!"
At that, everything becomes deathly silent.
"Missing... Baby?" Rose chokes out. She then remembers that Dr. Cooper had taken her fom her parents without them knowing, and she tears up; this must be the town where her parents live. All she needed to do was find them.
"Miss Elton, you and your friend are going to have to come down to the station with us," Blake says, his intimidating manner gone. He turns around and heads out of the allyway, Anderson, Rose, and Logan all making a quick dash to catch up with him.
"Why are we going to the police station?" Logan asks suspiciously, slowing down his pace. "Have we done something wrong?"
"No, not at all!" Anderson replies with excitement. "We just need to ask you two some questions."
"Oh..." Logan trails off, not knowing what else to say.
As they walked to the police station, Rose looked around at her surroundings; she saw a rather large man jogging (he could really use a sports bra), a little boy tugging on his mother's hand and pointing at a candy shop window, and a woman walking her dog as she bobs her head along to the music she was listening to.
She was so consumed with her surroundings that she didn't even notice who was a few feet away from them until it was too late.
