She Tried to Kill Me
Waking up the next morning was relieving because I knew I was leaving this God awful place and sleeping in my own bed tonight. I wanted to look nice, I don't know why, but I felt that I need to start the day right. I went to the bathroom and took a warm shower making sure to rid myself of any hospital fumes
I stepped out of the shower and tied my dirt blonde hair into two braids in order for it to dry wavy. I then got out my light blue hospital gown on and texted my mom to bring me some nice clothes. I then took out the bag my mom brought for me and pulled out a small makeup bag. I subtly covered the bags under my eyes and surrounded my eyes with black liner allowing the blueness of my irises to pop. I then added some subtle blush to my pale cheeks and added a dab of lipgloss to my lips. Just as I was doing the finishing touches there was a knock on the bathroom door.
I opened it to see my mom holding out a folded outfit for me to put it on. I thanked her with a smile and went back into the bathroom to change. I put on my underwear quickly and slid on the high waisted navy blue skater skirt. Then I pulled the tight white lace top over my head and tucked into the skirt. The outfit was surprisingly pretty. I never realized my mom had some decent fashion sense.
I walked out to the room and slipped on my white converse as my mom was talking to the doctor. I thought my shoes would make the outfit look awkward, but it looked sort of cute. My mom quickly signed my release form and asked me if I was ready to go.
I hadn't told her yet that I was staying behind for a bit. The doctor left the room quietly.
"Mom, can I possibly stay here for a bit. There is something I need to do. I can walk home. I just need some time alone and some fresh air you know?"
She nodded slowly, and said "Okay sweetheart, but be careful. Oh and be home for dinner at 7, I'm making your favorite." I smiled as she left the room.
I said my last goodbyes to my plain white bland hospital room. I knew I wouldn't be missing it. I slipped out of the room then went down to the check in desk. I quickly told her who I was going to see.
"Do you know her last name?" The women at the front desk asked me.
"Uh no but I know she starts chemo today." I said, while fiddling with my braids. I can't believe I didn't know her last name, but I knew so many other things about her.
The women expertly typed on her computer then directed me to room 406.
As I walk to my room I undid my brains and brushed my hands to my almost completely dry wavy hair. Once I reached the room and opened it to see Natalie connected to so many machines. It made me cringe a bit seeing her like that. Nobody else was in her room yet. I sat next to her bed on a uncomfortable bench. She gave me a small smile.
"My family will be here in a minute." She said. I just nodded and smiled.
Not even a minute later the door opened and two very nice looking people walked in. They were obviously her parents. They looked a bit older, but still pretty attractive. Natalie had her moms eyes and her dads facial structure. By the way they looked her, you can tell she was there entire world.
They took a seat on the other side of the bed from me. They barley even noticed I was there. Their entire attention was given to their baby girl.
Suddenly, the door burst open and in walked Carter... I instantly stiffened at his presence. His eyes connected with mine.
"What are you doing here!" We said at the same time.
"You to know each other?" Natalie questioned. I glared at Carter as he stared back at me looking guilty.
