Chapter 6

Notes

The week passed by in a blur and before I knew it, it was Saturday. I had just finished my daily run and hopped into my shower. I reflected back on my week. My teachers seemed to like me, some a little too much *cough, cough* Mr. Barton *cough*.

I had become closer with the group of girls I sat with at lunch who were still planning on sleeping over tonight. Also, I became closer with Conner he was just a really sweet guy and he even made me a cartoon drawing of a minion from despicable me!!! And I guess you can say I became closer with Carter, sort of.

We had been passing notes all week in every class we had together. I had saved all the notes we wrote in a folder. I just was too lazy to through them all away I guess. The folder was filled with all sorts of little conversations I had with him ranging from topics about the meaning of life to if Mrs. Sanchez's eyebrows were real or drawn on. I honestly didn't know if I really hated Carter anymore. I just felt like I needed to.

I stepped out of the shower and dried myself off. I put on my favorite mint shirt and some white jean shorts. I then set out to clean my room and get ready for all the girls coming over. After a few hours of work my house was finally ready for the ultimate slumber party, but I'm guessing there won't be much slumber.

The doorbell rang and I opened up to see Jenni. She smiled and gave me a big hug. "I'm so excited!" she screamed in my ear. I gave her a smile even though I was nervous. I had never been one for making friends. I usually kept to myself, so today was a bit out of my comfort zone.

All the girls arrived shortly after Jennifer did. We were all piled into my room doing makeovers and gossiping as cliché as that is.

I was talking with Jenni about boys and the topic of Carter came up.

"So Carter..." Jenni said while smirking at me.

"What about him." I said not really sure where she was going with this.

"Just admit it!" she said. I honestly didn't know what she was talking about. "What are you talking about?" I questioned.

"You like Carter Lewis!" She yelled getting the attention of everyone in the room.

"No I don't. I despise that boy." I said sincerely. Where had she gotten this idea? Great, now all the girls probably think I like him.

"Yes you do. You two have been passing notes all week and you stick them in that folder!" Jenni stated.

"I saw you two getting ice cream on Monday!" Hannah chirped. Shit, I thought I got away with no one seeing us together. I am definitely not as sneaky as I thought I was. "I don't like him guys!" I said trying to convince them.

"Looks to me like you do." said Piper. I looked over at her and she had my folder on her lap and was reading through the notes.

"Let me see!" Madison said grabbing one of the notes.

"What exactly is love? I mean it's just an over exaggerated emotion right? -Carter" Madison said reading the note aloud. Of course that's the note she ended up grabbing! I tried grabbing it, but the twins held me down while giggling uncontrollably as Madison continued reading.

It's purpose I suppose. Maybe that's why it's over exaggerated. -Cassidy

Do you have purpose? -Carter

Do you? -Cassidy

So what are we doing her if we don't have purpose? -Carter

We are searching for it. -Cassidy

So tell me Cass, do you want to fall in love and find that purpose everyone is looking for? -Carter

I guess so.-Cassidy

Wouldn't it be the perfect crime if I sole your heart and you stole mine? -Carter

Oh look and there's a little doodle!!!" Madison said, although she didn't finish reading the note. I had written, "It would be a crime." But of course Madison didn't read that because it confirms I don't like him.

I was blushing furiously. They weren't supposed to see that ever and she made it sound like we were flirting and that wasn't what that was!

"Relax Cassidy we won't tell him or anyone about it. Right guys?" Autumn asked and they all nodded in unison. They didn't even give me a second to deny it as Autumn said, "Can we eat some food now."

I sighed and gave up as we all went down to the kitchen where I had already premade some pizzas. We ate dinner and then made some ice cream sundaes because a sleepover is complete without the sweetness of an icy treat. After, we all headed up stairs and changed into our pajamas. We spent the rest of the night watching chick flicks and getting to know each other better. For the exception of talking about Carter, I had a great time today.
