Friends have been another big part of my life lately, not that they haven't before, but now they're what I rely on. My backbone. My friends are my support and who I go to when I need to talk about anything, and I know I can trust all of them. Just certain ones have certain things they're better at to deal with.
Karlie is personally the person I go to most often because she's good with conversation, and with listening. Also, she lives in New York as well so it's easier to get ahold of her rather than Hayley or Ella or someone busy like so. Of course, Karlie is busy but her schedule is more lax and I make sure that i have time for my friends.
Today is one of those days. Karlie is in town for a shoot and after that, we made plans to make some lunch at my apartment and watch Mean Girls once more. It's this typical kind of stuff that makes our friendship stand out from my other friends, because we tend to tread close to things we've done before but in spite of that, we push each other outside our comfort zones. I try to isolate myself on nice people that challenge me, and that's not been such a problem lately.
She came over about an hour ago, and now sits at a barstool, sipping a glass on wine I had pulled out for her.
"Are they even dating?" Karlie asks, running her finger around the rim of the glass.
"They're on-again off-again, i think. Ella spent twenty minutes trying to explain it to me and I still don't understand it,"
"Either way, what she said was hilarious," She says.
"Speaking of boyfriends, how's Joshua?" I ask, after taking a long sip of my diet coke. She's been dating Joshua for awhile now, I've met him a few times and they've become one of my favorite couples to see together.
"Eh, he's alright. Busy, but alright. Kushner Properties seems to always pull him away from me," She sighs over-dramatically and stares down at her drink with a far off look of distain.
"Hey, being a business mogul is a lot of work, we need to all get up sometime," I say, pushing my hair from my face. "Have a party or something."
"Yes! Invite over everyone in advance to make sure they can come. It'll be fun," She says, setting the glass down and leaning farther across the island. "Joshua has a friend you should meet, by the way."
"Karlie, you know I don't want to get into that kind of stuff right now."
"I don't mean you have to date him. Just meet him. He's really smart, has been helping Josh out with his stocks, and he's not bad to look at either," She says, acting nonchalant. You can see how much she wants me to say that I'll give him a shot but I know better than to phrase my words like that. She'll be trying to completely set us up if I give off any indication that I'm interested, not that she won't anyway whether I indicate it or not.
"He can come but please understand I don't have time for a relationship. Between interviews and the tour all next year, I don't think I have time if I even wanted to. And besides, I'm happy as I am, I definitely don't want to get into all the relationship mess unless it's something I know for sure will last," I walk around the counter to where the living room begins, and collapse onto the couch.
"I know, I know. I can't help it though, you have to meet him and technically, you won't know if you could have a future with him if you don't meet him though," Karlie spins in her stool to face my direction.
"Fine, he can come but I'm not promising you anything,"
"All I can ask."

The rest of the day I spend holed up by by myself as usual after Karlie left for a photoshoot. It wasn't as boring as you may think, I worked on the gifts i have been planning to send out to some fans i tend to stalk on social networks a lot. I think I might've went a bit over the top at some times but it's just so fun to shop for them and see how their reactions genuinely brighten their day. It's nearing Christmas, after all, just after we get past Thanksgiving. And after all they've done for me just in the past few weeks, this is nothing in comparison. I can't thank them enough, but I can try, and shopping for them is so fun.Karlie hinted more at Joshua's friend throughout the day we were together, how he's a writer and is from Maine. We also talked about how our party will be at my apartment in a week, and to not invite too many people but not a ton.
So maybe this will work out, we'll just have to see. But for now, there's law and order for that.
