"It's you."

**********

What did he mean "It's you"? I've never seen him before in my life and suddenly he recognizes me?

This has to be another one of those dreams, this can't be real. No one can just dream up a house and then just happen to stumble upon it in another country!

"What's that- how do you...you know me? How do you know me? Is this a dream? Did you drug me, like am I just on drugs right now?"

"I didn't drug you, and this is certainly not a dream." He slowly stepped down the stairs and crossed they drive way to stand in front of me. He stood so close I could smell his cologne. I could feel his minty breath fan across my face as he seemed to be searching my face for something. I realized that this was all too weird and despite how perfect this all seems, it almost feels fake. I stepped back from him and just kept going. My slow cautious steps soon turned into a quick clumsy run as I turned and made a run for the gate.

"Stop." He stated calmly from behind me. "You don't want to do that." His tone held more warning this time. Upon reaching the gates I pulled them as hard as I could but they wouldn't budge. The gates were locked and I didn't have a key.

"Let me out!" I began as I turned around, but Giovanni was already behind me.

"I can't."

"Can't or won't? you creep!"

"Both."

"Let me out! Open the gates! I will call the cops!"

"You don't have a phone, now go back to the house." He replied nonchalantly. He really wasn't going to let me out... okay then. I stared at him as I slid down to the ground and crossed my legs.

"What are you doing?" A hint of amusement crossed his face before he quickly masked it.

"You won't let me out, and I'm not going back in that house."

Giovanni's POV

"You won't let me out, and I'm not going back in the house." She spat the words at me with as much venom as she could muster, which wasn't much. I almost smiled at her trying to be tough as I watched her cross her arms over her chest. She let out a huff and stared at the ground, I think that was supposed to me conversation over.

"Okay." I smirked as I turned in my heel and walked back to the house. There was no way she was getting out so she would have to come back in at some point. The sun was already beginning to set and she is afraid of the dark. When I made it back to the house I watched out the window. She tried a few more times to open the gate but to no surprise she failed. I could see how the wind whipped her hair around her face as she walked aimlessly around. I noticed her body begin to shake as she crossed her arms and began rubbing her hands up and down in a futile attempt to warm herself up. She was getting cold now that it was dark, but she wasn't going to come in. I can't say I blamed her, but I don't like to play games like this. If she wanted to stay outside and freeze just to stay away from me then so be it.

***

She has been outside for three hours now and she's shaking so hard I thought she might be having a seizure at one point. Should I go outside and get her, or should I let her stay out? It won't get below freezing tonight, she would be okay if I left her. But I'm not heartless... I groan internally as I head downstairs to get her. It's colder outside than I had anticipated, maybe it is a good thing I decided to come get her. By the time I reach her she is curled up in a ball to the left of the drive way in the grass. Her body is shaking even in her sleep and her lips are cyanotic. I slipped my right arm under her knees and used my other to support her upper back. When I picked her up she snuggled into my chest and I could feel how cold she was through my shirt. I hurried back into the house shutting the doors behind me as I made my way upstairs. I gently laid her down on the bed careful not to wake her.
