I had been sitting in that chair for five hours before Giovanni came back. He untied me and I barely made it to the bathroom before I peed myself. When I walked back downstairs he had just finished putting away a few groceries.

"I got some things that you don't have to cook. I hope smore's pop tarts are okay? I know you have a sweet tooth."

"Those are actually my favorite." The conversation ended after that but the silence was awkward.

"How was your trip?" I have to admit, it sounded lame as I said it, but it was better than the lingering silence.

"You don't care. You're just trying to make conversation because you feel awkward. Why don't you ask what's really on your mind."

"Okay, can you read minds? Sebastian said you can't. How did you 'convince' my parents to let me come here?... Why me?" I whispered the last one, I wasn't sure if I wanted to know the answer.

"No, Sebastian said he can't read minds, I can. I have... abilities, one is to read minds, and another is like persuasion. I can make people do what I want, but they think it was their idea. That last question might be difficult for you to understand." He pulled a chair out and motioned for me to sit, but I leaned against the wall and crossed my arms.

"You're crazy if you think I'm sitting in that chair again. What could be more difficult to wrap my head around than you being a vampire who is able to read minds and use mind control?" I let out a strangled laugh at my situation. It sounded ridiculous, the more I found out the more cheesy it all sounded.

"Vampires live forever unless they are killed obviously, but living that long can get really lonely. The only good thing about that is if you find your... mate, for lack of better terms. When a vampire finds their mate they are supposed to live happily ever after. The problem with my mate though, is that she is human."

"Okay, so turn her into a vampire and let me go. I don't think she would be very happy to find another girl here." He scoffed at my response and shook his head as he continued.

"Since she is human, she can't feel the same connection that I can. She likes my physical appearance, but personality wise she doesn't really like me."

"Wow, I wonder why." I deadpanned. He ignored me and kept going on about his 'mate'...the poor girl probably had no idea what was about to happen to her.

"When I figured out who she was, I made her see things in her dreams-also one of my many talents-" he added with a smirk. "Like this house for instance. I wanted her to know where she would live once she was finally mine. She loved it too. I showed her bits and pieces every once in a while, just enough to not let her forget it. I made it feel warm and safe for her, a place she could just be herself. Unfortunately when she saw it she kind of freaked out, and, well, you know the rest." I couldn't respond. He was trying to tell me that I was his mate. I don't want to be that, don't I get a choice?

"No, you don't."

"Stop. Don't do that!" I could feel the panic rising in my throat, this man was going to make me die from a panic attack if he didn't stop with all this crap!

"Okay." He held his hands up in surrender. "But you need to calm down." He slowly stood up and took cautionary steps towards me. I was frozen to the ground. I could see him closing in but I couldn't get away, I couldn't move. Just as he was about to grab my shoulders, Sebastian burst in the house.

"Honey I'm home!" I relaxed a little with his sudden intrusion.

"Don't you knock?" A very irritated Giovanni growled out. He let out a sigh as he stormed upstairs to the bedroom and slammed the door behind him
