"It's been over a week Gio."

"Shut up Sebastian. She will wake up any time now, I can feel it."

Gio had stayed by Rose's side since the doctor let him back in the room that first day. He hadn't showered in who knows how long. The doctor said that with each day the chances of her waking up got smaller and smaller.

"Do you know how wrong this is? We need to take her off of the vent Gio."

"I said shut up Sebastian!" His eyes were red and sunk in as the glared up at me from across the bed.

"No. You have bee telling me to shut up for a week and I have given you time but we need to talk about this! Gio you know how much she despises ventilators, why are you keeping her on one?"

"You don't even know what you are talking about. She is a nurse, she knows that ventilators can save lives, she doesn't hate them."

"She never told you why she hates them did she?" He looked back at Rose's pale face before shaking his head slowly.

"Rose's was very close with her grandmother growing up. Her grandmother began to get sick as she got older and no one knew what was wrong with her. Eventually her grandmother was put on a ventilator because she could no longer breath on her own. When Rose went to visit her one day she finally got the courage to hold her grandmothers hand for the first time since she was put on the vent. When Rose grabbed her hand, her grandmother woke up. Later that day, her grandmother passed away. Since Rose was so young and didn't understand medicine at the time she felt like it was her fault that her grandmother woke up and was in pain from the ventilator. That traumatized Rose and ever since she has always made it clear that she didn't want to be put on a vent and left to die." Gio sat in silence for a moment thinking over what I had just said.

"I'm not leaving her to die, I am going to save her."

"You missed the whole point of that story Gio! She doesn't want to be on a vent. She has been here for a week without a sign of waking up. She isn't going to wake-" Before I could finish, Gio had me pinned to the wall by my throat.

"Finish that sentence and so help me I will finish you." After a minute Gio let go and backed away to stand by the bed again. I watched as he stood there in silence staring down at Rose. Suddenly he grabbed his phone and kissed Rose on the cheek before darting out of the room. I ran after him but he had disappeared into thin air.

"Gio, this is the last message I am leaving. Rose has been on this stupid ventilator for two weeks and I am not making her stay on it another day. You have until midnight tonight to show up or at least call me back or I am shutting it off." I was so infuriated with Gio's Houdini act, all I could see was red. I threw the phone against the wall and watched it shatter into a thousand tiny pieces before I turned to find something else to throw. Sure it made a mess, but right now, it helped.

"What's the matter Sebastian. Phone not working?" I spun around to see Gio propped against the door frame with a cocky smirk plastered on his face.

"Where have you been?! Do you know what I have had to do this past week? I had to sign all kinds of forms saying that if she didn't breath on her own they couldn't bring her back or help her. I had to send a letter to her parents telling them she had been in a car accident and didn't make it. I was this close to pulling the plug!"

"I know. I got the letter before it shipped off thankfully. Don't worry, I figured out how to save her." With that he strolled up and leaned over Rose. He took a small syringe of liquid and injected it into her IV before disposing of the syringe and sitting beside her.
