10. Chapter

Christmas is getting closer, so you were a little bit stressed out currently. The plans that you made were pretty much crushed after you lost a week, because of your wounds. You were back in your camp & had a lot of work to catch up on & you had to make some presents too; you won't get much sleep this week. Jacob was busy with something else, apparently the Deputy was in his region now & he had to take care of that problem; so, your mental support left you alone.

"How do ya get hurt all the time, Artemis?" You asked the big black wolf that was sitting on top of your operation table in your infirmary. He's so careless & gets into trouble all the time, it was a pain in the ass. He lifted one of his paws & laid it on your shoulder. You stopped bandaging him & looked up to face him. He was giving you puppy dog eyes, like he was trying to say, "Don't be angry." "Don't give me that look buddy." You said with a small smile & ruffled his soft dark fur. "All good again." you gave him a treat, because you couldn't say no to those eyes & called out for your next "patient". "Flint get ya furry ass over here."

"Where ya at?" you asked after you didn't hear the familiar clicking of claws against the floor. Gazing around you gazed out of the big windows of the infirmary & saw him rolling around in the snow outside. He stopped for a moment when he noticed you staring but had the audacity to continue rolling around. „I swear. Imma skin you." You cursed profanities underneath your breath as you took your coat & threw it on. Cold air hit your face when you opened the door & stepped outside. It was like a winter wonderland, the layers of snows grew higher each passing day; you were happy that the Peggies around your camp, kept the paths to different cabins clean.

You inhaled deeply before you stepped into the knee- high snow with one foot. "That'll be fun." You grunted as you stomped your way through the thick layers. Just as you reached Flint, you felt something heavy colliding with your body. You didn't have time to react & just fell face front into the snow. "Ugh, for fuck sake" your words were muffled by the snow. Raising your head, you were immediately met by a tongue licking off the snow that was slowly melting on your face. Peeling one eye open, you saw two golf balls staring back at you. Only now you noticed something standing on your back & as you turned your head around as far as possible, you saw a glimpse of gray fluff.

"I swear Scotty, back up or ya ain't gettin' a treat tonight." You heard him bark & poke your back with his snout. "Oh, is that a challenge? Ya wanna fight?" you asked while laughing at their behavior. And it all ended in a playful fight with the whole pack; after the wolves saw you goofing 'round with Scotty & Artemis, they automatically wanted your attention too. Suddenly, as you were laying on your back in the snow, trying to catch your breath, your heard soft grunts & cooing sounds. You knew already who it was & when you gazed around, you saw Teddy & the cub you found some weeks ago; his mother was lying dead beside it. You were happy that teddy accepted the cub.

You opened your arms & engulfed the cub in a hug as it was close enough to reach. It's fluffy fur was tickling your face & making you chuckle in delight. "Oh, I missed ya too." You said sweetly. "Let's get you both checked." You stood up & went back inside the infirmary with the little cub nuzzling into your chest; Teddy of course followed you both.

You were sitting crossed legged on the floor beside your fire place, with a blanket draped over your shoulders & a hot (f/h/b) standing beside you. Warping paper, glue & more things were scattered around you, as you were packing up Johns, Faiths & Josephs presents. "There we go." You mumbled when you finished writing Name tags; you easily forget somethings & it would be embarrassing if you accidently mix up the gifts.
