chapter four

"He called you pretty?!" Sadie says with disbelief. "Yep" I say popping the p. "I mean I would like you to be my sister-in-law" she jokes, nudging my shoulder. I laugh at her reaction.

"Come on we only spoke one time. One time!" I protest while laughing. Before I know it I bump into someone and my books fall onto the ground.

"I'm so sorry" I immediately say but soon look into those all too familiar eyes. "Oh h-hi" I say awkwardly with my face turning bright red.

i look up to see Finn staring angrily at me. "Just watch out where you're going next time" the guy says angrily and walks past me. I get on the ground to get my books and Sadie helps me. "When did that happen?" She yell whispers into my ear.

"Did what happen?" I say, playing dumb. Sadie just rolls her eyes. "You two even knowing each other! Like what, when and where?" She asks. I sigh. "We have English together and we were talking- arguing actually and the teacher gave us detention" I admit.

"You were in a room, after school with him?" She asks raising her eyebrows. "Yes, with a teacher too obviously" I say whilst Finn's weird behavior shoots back into my brain. "And?" She asks.

"There's no 'and' " I shrug as I get up from the floor. "Yes there is I can see it on you face!" She protests. I sigh. "Okay fine, the teacher left for a minute and my phone rang and he wanted to know who called. But like really wanted to know who called" I tell her, still confused about his behavior.

"Who called?" She asks almost yelling. Her tone made me jump a bit. "Jesus stop yelling!" I hiss at her. "I don't know who called, just my dad probably" I shrug.

Meanwhile we arrived in the cafeteria and took a seat. "Honestly I don't know why was acting that was but I guess it was nothing" I tell her. "Are you sure?" She asks me. I give her a friendly smile. "Yeah, it was nothing" I reassure her.

I sigh as I walk into the English classroom.  Another hour of torture I think to myself. Personally I really like English, it's interesting. But now that I have to be seated next to Finn, I just want to sink through the ground.

I sit down next to him, get my books and stare at the board. "Did you find your way in here without bumping into someone or did you fall on that face of yours?" He asks rudely.

"If you're still mad about this morning, I - again - am sorry" I say quietly. "Never said I was mad Brown" He says, still not looking at me. "Then why are you so rude?" I say without thinking. I immediately regret saying and apologize.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean that I-" I begin but Finn already cuts me off. "Whatever, just keep your mouth shut" He snaps. "Sorry" I mumble.

"Okay class so, I'm going to give you a partner to do the project with" the teacher says. What project? I panic. Lucky for me a different girl raises her hand asks him the same question.

"Every senior class is going to make a small cartoon about bullying and how to stop it. It's basically just an anti bully project" He explains. "You can win 10 extra points for your English exam at the end of the year" He explains further.

"Okay so, Elizabeth Aaron with Troy Gilbert" He says and then named a few other people. "Finn Wolfhard and Millie Brown" He ready off the list. For a moment I just sat there in shock. You've got to be kidding me I think to myself.

Finn looks at me with the same annoyed expression. "Your house?" He asks rudely. "No, we can't my dad is gone with my sister, he will never allow me to have a boy over" I say softly. He look at me with furrowed eyebrows. "You're seventeen and you're not allowed to have a guy over?" He asks.

I just sigh, feeling annoyed. "No, I'm not. Anyway we have to go to your house" I tell him. "Give me your phone" He demands. "What? No!" I protest. He just sighs. "Give me your phone so I can give you my number and text you the address" He says, his annoyed expression not changing.

I give him my phone and he puts in his number in it. "My house, four sharp, not earlier not later, understand?" He says sternly. "Okay..." I mumble, not loud enough for him to hear.
