10 minutes passed, 30 minutes passed, followed by an hour. I grew more tired by the time and finally decided to go home, concealing all the pain I felt deep within me. But still, being the loyal and loving girlfriend I am, I sent him a text before leaving.

Sorry, I am leaving Asher. I'll see you later...love ya....

Sent.

I sighed, making my way back home. I usually walked back home because it was just a few blocks away from my school. And, it gave me some private time to sort out my own thoughts. My eyes started to droop as I approached my house. It has been a loooong day for sure.

My legs were practically feeling like rubber and now I was dragging them up to my own room. The whole house was quiet, I mean awfully quiet. Maybe Travis and Lily weren't home from their workplace yet. But...wait, why wasn't the front door locked? Did they forget to lock the door before leaving?

 That's a first...

I cautiously moved to my room, hoping no one will be there, still clutching my pocket knife. What? You'll never know what will happen. What if someone tries to abduct me or tries to kill me? More importantly, what if he tries to steal my....gummy bears?

Really, Hazel? Kill you for gummy bears?

Yeah, you heard me right inner Hazel. Now shut up and let me concentrate.

I stood in front of my room and what the actual fuck! My door was slightly ajar and the lights were on. Holy pineapples, I've never forgotten to lock my room door. My personal space was more important to me than my gummy bears.

The door creaked annoyingly as I pushed it wider. And there laid a lifeless figure, right on my bed, her wild dark hair spread all over her face and my duvet.

WHO THE FU-

"Hazel....shut the damn door and come in. I've been waiting here for decades, bitch ". Oh, Raven. Of course, she was the intruder. Who else had a spare key to the whole house, other than Lily and Travis's own daughter, my beautifully badass step-sister? To be more accurate, my partner in crime. But the question was, when did she return from Puerto Rico?

"Hello to you too, Raven ". She sat up straight on my bed, taming her hair and looked into my eyes. "Hi, babygirl," she says with a smug look plastered to her face. My eyes rolled on their own at her response. Raven was being so.....well, Raven.

She's the total opposite of me. She doesn't care about grades like I do and doesn't give a damn about what others might think about herself. I wished I was more like her, independent, carefree, brave and strong.

But you know, broken hearts are the strongest, they say. And I knew, it was the pain that Raven has suffered, that made her the way she is today. Maybe I haven't endured that much pain yet, but honestly, I'm glad. I wish no one would suffer as much as Raven did in her past.

Yes, she had a rough childhood, but don't expect me to narrate it. It's kind of a long story.

" Earth to Hazel, earth to Hazel " Raven kept her eyes on me. Damn, I should stop zoning out in front of people. " Are my eyes not working or your room looks like a mess? " I scoffed, " You should look at my life " I plopped down on the bed, next to Raven without taking my gaze off the ceiling.

" Do I need to know? " Raven wondered. " Asher stood me up at the diner today". " So you broke up with him?" There was a delight prominent on her face. Why she was so happy about the idea of us breaking up? " What? No...no of course". " You should, you deserve way better than him". Her tone was low and slow. She wouldn't use that tone unless she was hell serious about something. But something was off. She sounded like she's hiding something from me. I grew even more suspicious when she didn't even dare to meet my gaze.
