In about 15 minutes, I was done showering and picking out my outfit for the day. The usual of course, a Brooklyn 99 crop top and whitewashed ripped jeans. After hours of trying, I gave up the idea of taming my wild hair and threw on a grey beanie that Raven had gotten me for my 15th birthday. I slipped into my lace-up boots and voila, Hazel was ready for another phenomenal adventure at high school.
Hey, I wasn't being sarcastic. Me? Sarcasm? Pfft...
By the time I was downstairs, Raven was gobbling down her breakfast. Wow, how ladylike. She didn't even wait for me. And what is that amazing smell?
B-A-C-O-N
"Raven, is that bacon I' smelling?"
She looked up to me with her mouth still full and said, well...tried to say, "Yes, but if you don't get here in 5 seconds the only thing you'll be getting is the smell of the bacon". She reached for my share of bacon on the dining table. Within a blink of an eye, I snatched back my plate, sending a glare her way. "Mine," I growled out.
"Alright, alright, back down she-wolf," she raised her both hands in a surrendering manner. Then she smirked at me, eyeing me up and down.
"Hmm, looks like you had been dolled up for something, or...shall I say, someone?"
Her suggestive tone earned an eye roll from me. Deciding to play along, I said "And who's that someone might be?" I cocked an eyebrow at her while folding my arms across my chest.
"Oh just someone who might live next door, dark hair, green eyes, a body to die for, hot tatt-"
"Oo...kay that's enough and I'm not dolled up for him. Hell, I'm not even dolled up. I always dress like this."
"Whatever you say, sweetheart. You going somewhere, or with someone?" she grinned at me wider than the Cheshire cat. Now, that wasn't creepy at all.
"I'm off to school, Raven," I groaned. "You're not coming?" I looked around for my backpack. Where the hell did I put it? Finally, I found it in the kitchen and don't ask how it ended up there. I have no idea.
"Nah, I'm feeling like having a Fifty Shades of Grey marathon. And you know, I'm not a teacher's pet like you, Hazel." I heard her hollering from the dining room. I scrunched up my face and mumbled, "I'm not."
"Sure you aren't..."
"Shut up Raven. Well, okay then...see ya," I made my way toward the door. Even though our final exams and prom night was over, we still had our graduation even coming up real soon. So the teachers needed some help from the seniors and I volunteered. It's not like I have anything else to do at home, though. There were no more classes so the students took it as an opportunity to have a mini summer break. Like Raven.
"Don't get into any trouble when I'm away," I called out.
" Laters, baby," she called back. Something else she is, I mumble to myself.
I stepped out to the porch, to be greeted by a clear sunny sky. The birds chirping happily, kids playing around, my neighbor's dog taking a shit on my lawn. You know, the usual stuff. Okay, so far so good.
Not.
The next second, I fell face-first onto the ground. Pain shot up like a bolt of lightning throughout my whole body. An agonizing groan left my lips. Why God? Why? I strained my neck to see that thing, oh that amazing thing, I tripped on. And guess what, it was my stilettos from yesterday that I forgot to keep away.
Parfait.
"You can't seem to get enough of making love to your lawn, can you?" Somebody just kill me right now! I rolled on my back and Noah was looking down at me with his usual I-find-amusement-in-everything-you-do smirk. Oh how much I wish I could slap it off his beautiful face.
