This song came on Spotify while I was writing this and I kinda felt it...

He opened the door to his empty home. Closing the door, Mitch turned on the lights and walked into the family room, placing his keys on the table in the hallway. He turned on the light and almost broke down. First thing he saw was a picture of him and his fiancée, Scott. It was just after he had proposed in a big field in their hometown of Arlington, the same place and spot where Scott had first asked him out. Tears brimmed his eyes as he took his oversized, fur coat off and hung it on the rack before taking the frame off their fireplace and sat on the couch with it, taking his shoes off and curling up with a blanket on their couch as Wyatt bounded up to him and jumped onto his lap, meowing in Mitch's face.

"i know you miss daddy, sweetie."

Mitch stroked the sphynx cat as he reached for the remote to turn the TV on to drown out the deafening silence of the lonely house.

"Today's Top Story: A Cappella stars Scott Hoying and Avi Kaplan have been reported missing for 3 weeks now by officials. Officials say they were last seen---"

He switched it off and threw the remote onto the floor, which sent it clattering across the room. He slumped back against the arm of the chair, unshed tears brimming his eyes as he looked at the feline on his lap, then towards the kitchen, and back again.

"hungry, wy?"

The cat meowed.

Mitch stood from the couch, cradling the feline in his arms as he waled to the kitchen and set it down on the counter as he whipped up a small portion of spaghetti and meatballs as garnished it with grated mozzarella, a glass of wine (or a whole bottle) and some tuna for his darling cat before heading back to the family room, cat on his tail. Wyatt ate at the bottom of the couch, directly below Mitch's head as Mitch sat on the couch with his bowl. The two ate in silence before the brunette washed up as the two headed upstairs. Wyatt ran into the master bedroom and got situated on the bed as Mitch stripped and headed into the bathroom.

He sat in the tub. Wine, Beyoncé blaring in the background and his thoughts. He couldn't stop thinking about his lover, his fiancée trapped in a metal shipping container used to carry cargo on his way to wherever in the world he was heading. And poor Avi. Going through more hell than Satan could provide. The both of them stuck were stuck in there. Alone. Cold. Hungry! What if they'd starved to death. No. The people who took them wouldn't--

"Meow"

He looked down and saw his cat and realised he had been in the bath for an hour and a half and his fingers were wrinkly, he climbed out the bathtub and dried himself off before heading into the bedroom and dressed into a tracksuit and Scott's shirts, downing the glass and dropping onto the bed.

"alexa, lights off and lock all doors and windows."

The lights all around the house turned off and doors and windows were locked. The brunette fixed the photo frame onto the bedside table and turned the lamp on, stroking the silver frame, he curled into a ball under the duvet, the grey sphynx laying on the pillow by his head. The brunette kissed his head and closed his eyes.

"goodnight, wywy. hopefully we'll find daddy and bring him home"

"Meow."

He looked at the photo, letting a tear run down his face as his eyes closed.
