Ch 18

Stella's POV

It's been a week... One week since I last saw Derek. One week since I said goodbye. One week of wanting to see Derek somehow. One week of thinking of him every passing minute. I actually miss that mysterious dark stranger. I feel like there's a missing part of me that I left with Derek.

School has been good so far. I'm doing much better than I did in high school. I've been paying attention more, attending all lectures, revising, and studying. I wanna start that perfect fresh start. Except it wasn't Derek-free. At least not in my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about him. Though, I'll keep trying to erase him of my mind because I'm pretty sure he already did. I'm sure he forgot all about me.

It's the weekend now. Scott and Kira, his girlfriend, are coming to visit. There's a party in campus for welcoming us, the freshmen. I asked Scott to come with me 'cause I didn't make friends yet. There's this kid named Liam. He's in the room next door. He introduced himself when he first ran into me on the day I got here. He seemed nice and cute. He has blue eyes. He told me to come to him if I needed anything. He said his older brother is a senior here so he can help if we needed it. I think we could be good friends. But I never ran into him again.

I had just finished lunch in a small local diner near campus that is almost always filled with students.

"You sitting alone again Stella ?" Jane, the waitress, asked me while she brought the bill. She seems to be in her late 20s. She's nice, we chat whenever I'm here for breakfast or lunch. I always sit alone 'cause I haven't made friends yet.
"Yeah" I sheepishly said.
"You gotta make new friends." She says as she smiled and walked away tending to other tables.

I left money on the table and got up to leave. I accidentally bump into someone outside the diner.
"Oh. Sorry" I tell him. An older tall guy, very handsome. He was wearing a hoodie. Our eyes locked.

"No problem" he smiles to me. But didn't walk away yet.
"Stella" I introduced myself shaking his hand.
"Jason" He winked at me.
"You go to Kingston?" I ask him.
"Yea. I'm a senior. I assume you're a freshman?" He asked me.
"Yeah" I reply. His eyes are gorgeous. Not as Derek's but still.. Dammit Stella stop thinking of Derek when you have a hot guy right in front of you!

"Jason!!" distant voice from inside the diner called him.
"Coming to tonight's party?" He asked me.
"Yea" I answer feeling my cheeks warm all of the sudden.
"Awesome! See you there!" He patted my shoulder and hurried in to his friends.

I walked to the campus with a smile on my face. Scott and Keira are supposed to be here in couple of hours or so. I went to explore large campus since I have nothing else to do.

It's around 4 pm now. Party is in an hour. Scott called me telling me they're here. I went to meet them. We went for a walk and ice cream.

I noticed a loud group were walking towards us.
"Stella!" Jason shouted when he and his friends came closer.
Scott nudged me with his elbow.
Whispering "he's a keeper" of course 'cause he noticed his hotness.

Jason jogged approaching us.
"Hello again!" He told me.
"Hey! Jason these are Scott and Kira my friends. They're visiting for the weekend!" I said smiling like an idiot.

"Hey guys! You better come to the party! Me and my friends are heading there now actually." He's so excited for the party which is planned by them, the seniors, to welcome the freshmen.

"We will" Scott tells him.
"See you! Don't be late!" He winked at me and hurried to his friends.

Scott and Keira gave me looks.
"What!" I asked them.
"Nothing!!" They both replied laughing.
"He's a keeper, that's all I'm saying" Scott said.
I ignored him and we started heading to the party.
I mean I know Jason is very good looking. But I keep comparing him to Derek in my mind. He's nothing close to Derek. Oh man.. I should forget Derek. I really should.
