Ch 8

STILES' POV

I took my duffle bag out of my crashed car.
"There you are" I murmured.

I swirled around and gasped to look at a very pissed-looking Derek. What's with this guy?

"Wha-.." I started to ask. But was quickly interrupted.
"What took you so long?"

"I told you I was going for a walk!" I said confused.
"You could've said 'a long walk' you know. I was wo-" and he stopped talking. Was he going to say 'worried' ? About me ? Why?

"You were what..?" I mumbled.

"This place isn't very safe you know. You cant just wander around like that defenceless" he told me completely ignoring my question that I know he heard!

"I have no idea what you mean by that but alright whatev.. Sorry I didnt mean to worry you" I emphasized on the word 'worry' to see if what I thought he was going to say was correct.

He was instantly back to his serious emotionless hard-to-read posture and he said:
"I wasn't worried kid! I just dont wanna drag your ass to my cabin again and take care of you"
Ouch..that hurt..

"Well umm.. Sorry you had to take care of me yesterday.. And thank you for everything. Fortunately you don't have to worry, I'm about to leave anyway." I grabbed my duffle bag and started walking heading to the main road. It was a beautiful sunny day but even that didn't cheer me up I kept playing his words over and over in my head. Why did he become mean all of the sudden? He was all sweet and kind last night and this morning. Weird can't even begin to describe that guy.

DEREK'S POV

God! I'm such an idiot! I kept cursing myself internally watching Stella walk away until she disappeared into the trees.

Why did I build my walls up so high blocking her away. She was the only one who managed to briefly cross my walls in a long time. I felt my old self with her last night. I smiled a hundred times in one day with her. But now I pushed her away. I ruined it. Idiot!! The thought of me never going to see her again made my heart ache..
Her heartbeats started to fade away as she was walking further out of my hearing range. I have to go after her. She can't just walk all the way to her university..
I ran following the sound of her heartbeats direction. As I got closer, I heard her talking. I stopped standing behind a tree to watch and listen from a distance. I couldn't help but smile watching her. She was so adorable. She was pacing back and forth talking to herself.

"Hey dad..umm so the thing is.. I had a car accident but I'm fine don't worr- .. No.. Mmm.. Hey dad. Can you come pick me up? There was a storm and my car broke down.. Umm .. No no Stella. Hello pops how's it going ? can you come pick me up? .. agh!" She was so frustrated.

She sat on her knees and started to take out her cellphone out of her duffle bag. I'm assuming to call her dad after this horrible but cute practice of what to say to him.
A car was approaching. With loud music blasting out of it and as it passed me I saw a creepy looking driver. I instantly got a bad feeling. I have to trust my instinct this man is probably dangerous. Surely not a werewolf, I would be able to tell if he was. But just dangerous. It wouldn't be surprising if he was a murderer from the looks of him.
I saw the car slowing down and stopping next to Stella, who was sitting just on the side of the road.
"Hello there! You need a ride" he shouted to Stella. I could smell alcohol oozing out of his car from where I was standing.
"YES! Perfect timing thank god" she said cheerfully, too oblivious. No! How could she agree to ride with him!! Stupid Stella.

She shoved her cellphone in the bag again and got up to get in the car. I have to stop her!
"Stella! wait!" I shouted to her as I ran out of the trees and stood closer in plain view so she could see me.
She turned her head to look at me. She gave me a tight smile and jumped in closing the car door. I don't blame her I knew that I hurt her. I was so mean to her.

"no..WAIT!" I yelled chasing the car that sped away. Dammit!!
