"It is getting colder now, doesn't it?" Ortezca stated as she looked at the window just behind her. She was as usual busy checking the papers, especially about the proposal that she was working on. Her random statement made Melody glanced at her lady.
'Autumn...I wonder if the lady has some plans?' Melody thought as she pours tea in the cup for Ortezca and puts it on the table. Ortezca was in deep thought.
'The villagers need to stock up their food, and I need to check the barricades to prevent the bandits and wild animals from coming in..should i add traps..? I need to talk to Glen and the others...' Ortezca's thoughts run wild. She has no time to spare- she has so many things to do.
"I am going to visit Grandpa Glen, just eat lunch without me," ortezca said as she took her coat and ran out of the study room leaving once again Melody inside a messy room with the tea getting cold.
Glen and the other men were in the small barn. They had somehow procure cows, goats, horses and sheeps from the villager who were once fugitives from their ransacked hometown. If Ortezca would describe the barn, it is the place where national treasures were kept.
"Grandpa Glen! Is lucius here?" Ortezca shouted as she glanced around inside the barn, looking for grandpa glen. She then found grandpa Glen beside Dialton, her moher's knight and head of the troop of the knights of Holminne household. Both were smoking pipes.
"Ah, you're here too, grandpa dialton?" Ortezca beamed as she sat beside them. The three sat in silence for a while before Glen could disrupt the silence.
"Ortez, why are you here? And the smoke coming from the pipes is not good for you."
"I will wait here till you finish smoking." Ortezca smiled at them, making the two freeze. They knew the smile too well-after all, Helzca often does it too, especially when she is against something or someone had done something wrong and was caught by her. The two old geezers put down their pipes and cleared its contents. The 49 year old gardener and captain commander were nothing against ortezca.
"Oh? You done, you done? Good! I came here to talk about my proposal and also a plan to achieve it!" Ortezca said to the two of them which made them looked at each other.
"And it is..?" Dialton followed up.
"I am planning to have a hunting game 2 weeks from now, so grandpa dialton, please train our village men, i will also participate in this hunting game, so i will train too! Please take care of me!" Ortezca babbled, making the two grandpa pale.
"No!no! Why on earth would you participate??? The hunting game is probably ok for us, but for you to hunt too? Oi Alton, say something!" Glen exclaimed. Dialton just stared at ortezca.
"There is more to it as to why you wanted to participate in the hunt..right?" Glen shifted his gaze at ortezca after listening to the fact given by dialton.
"I want to protect this village from the bandits...and other wild animals..afterall... this is my fief, it is my responsibility as the lord of this village.."
"But still...why would you sacrifice yourself, for them?" Glen sked ortezca.
"Is that your resolve?" Dialton immediately asks ortezca.
"....yes." Ortezca nodded in seriousness. The three were silent, judging and analyzing each other then Dialton gets off from the hay and told ortezca to start running 10 laps starting today.
