"Sir Dialton! What on earth is the meaning of this!? I knew something suspicious is going on with the lady recently, since she had been waking up earlier than me- but to discover that you made her run 10 laps as a part of her training- further more, you said you'll train her how to hunt?!" Melody's shriek at the barn made most of the men who took part in the training turned their heads away to avoid receiving the wrath of the maid.
"She said it so herself. I just followed her."
"Was it an order?! If it is not an order, then it doesn't matter! The safety of the lady is the top most priority! Don't tell me you had almost forgotten her consitution ever since she was a child??"
"Melody! I am completely fine! And why on earth are you here?" Ortezca huffed as she approached the maid and the commander.
"That.is.supposed.to.be.my.line.though~? Hmmm~?" Melody smiled as proper as ever for a maid but ortezca knows otherwise.
"It was my decision! I want to protect everything that i hold dear! I may be once the ortezca that is so weak, and sickly, but this time i want to prove that I can change! Why wont you let me??" Ortezca cried out so loudly that glen, dialton, melody and other men present on the training grounds became so surprised at her outburst.
"My..my lady..." melody tried to calm ortezca down but seeing that she just came from running 10 laps just on her second day, it was really toiling on her body.
"Enough! No matter what you say i will not stop training even if you try to stop-" ortezca's vision went blurry and her knees gave in. She plopped down like a lace. Dialton immediately rushed to her side and picked her up in his arms.
"Quick, melody get a basin with warm water and cloth. I think working as the lord and training at the same time took a toll on her body. Glen, i will leave the supervision of the training to you, i am just going to lay her down to bed," dialton said, and glen just shooed him away.
The two eventually reached the house and melody opened the door towards where ortezca's bedroom was. Dialton was shocked at how many papers were scattered around. He carefully placed ortezca down and then stared st his surroundings.
'She really was busy, huh...such a dedicated lord...' dialton smirked and decided to fix the place while melody hasn't yet to come back. About some time had passed when melody went inside.
"Oh my sir dialton, i could not help but thank you so much for fixing the papers." Melody cried in relief when she placed the basin on the bedside.
"Has she always been like this? Working herself off? It must had been a long time since i saw her, but to think that she became thin and sickly than ever.."
"My apologies for not taking care of the lady...she had been giving me too much work to do as well, so I have not really paid attention towards her well-being.." melody remorsefully said as she wrung the cloth off excess water and dampened Ortezca's face.
"Mmgh..." ortezca groaned as she was being pulled to consciousness. She slowly blinked her eyes to adjust to the lighting if her surroundings and the face that she recognized first was Melody's. Upin seeing her face, she immediately sat up in panic.
"I am really sorry! Please don't tell mom and dad about what happened!" Ortezca blabbered as she strongly grips Melody's hand begging nonsense making the two surprised for a moment then paled when realizing that Ortezca was not speaking as of the present time- she was talkijg as if she was back in the past time in the ducal house.
"My-my lady! It is alright! Sir Dialton! What am I going to do! My lady is getting delirious from the fever!" Melody tears up as she glanced at sir Dialton. Melody was always worried that things like this would happen. During the first week of their stay in the forest by the hill, Ortezca got sick while helping in constructing their house in the woods and since they were the only people in the forest, and the kingdom was too far so Melody had to go and look for herbs in the woods during daytime, and took care of Ortezca for three days. Afterwards, it was her turn to get sick and Ortezca looked after her too. Those were the days that Melody could not forget and resented the ducal house and the kingdom for excommunicating and abandoning her lady. It was only 5 days after that Glen and Dialton found them and decided to stay with them.
"I am going to aak Glen to trade with me. He knows more about medicine than me you know," sir Dialton said and immediately went out. "I am sorry Melody..you should have already married but you chose to stay here with me..." Ortezca mumbled as she slowly blinks her way to oblivion.
"It doesn't matter my lady...after all, you made me realize the he was cheating behind my back...I haven't thanked you yet...my lady..." Melody cried. 'This is too much. My lady has suffered too much!' Melody sniffed. Glen went inside the room with a bowl and tapped Melody's shoulder to hand it to her.
"Let her drink this. She'll feel better. Don't cry too much Melody, Ortez is a strong woman. Furthermore, she doesn't want any of us to cry for her sake," Glen said making Melody rub her eyes and nodded firmly.
