Chapter 2

"Good morning, Ortezca-sama,"

"Good morning Ortezca-sama!"

"Ortezca-sama, a pleasant morning to you!" 

People greets them as Ortezca and Melody walk. It was a typical morning rounds within the small village that Ortezca built. Currently it housed a total 30 people, including the family of 6 members that arrived three days ago. Within the 30 people, 10 are considered as adult men, 9 of them are young boys, while 6 of them are adult females, including Ortezca and Melody and 5 of them are young girls.

Ortezca was on her way to the house of the family of 6 to visit her patients.

Yes. Ortezca Holminne is not only the lady of the Ducal house 'Holminne'. She excels in medicine especially during her stay in the Austriedrein academy. Most of her professors held her in high regards since she knew anatomy, botany and other areas of science as well. If only she was not banished, she would surely be offered to work on the prestigious hospital for the nobles in the capital of Cortris.

"I have come, Helma-san. How is Reinbert and Aldus?" Ortezca asked as she goes inside of her patient's house after knocking the door.

"Oh my! If it isn't Ortezca. Reinbert is fine and is currently out working with his father in the fields, and Aldus is sleeping. Please come and sit!" Helma said as she offered Ortezca a dining chair to sit on. "No! I am just stopping by to check on them. Here, I have a basket full of  freshly baked bread. I would like for you to have them" ortezca smiles as she hands the basket to Helma. Helma was surprised. "There is no need for these, my lady! You had done so much for us! For us to accept these-" Ortezca pushed the basket towards Helma. "I insist. Good thing that the medicine worked, we are truly blessed to have an abundant resources in the forest. If there is anything that concerns you, please do not hesitate to approach me. Well then, good day to you, Helma-san," ortezca said and went out of the house.

It was almost lunch and Melody was getting hungry. She glanced at her lady talking with the men from afar. They are currently in the fields. Though it may not really looked like a wide field, but several planting beds aligned with a fence to guard them.

'My lady hasn't taken her breakfast yet, and now she plans to dismiss her lunch too? I need to reprimand her again-' melody frowned at Ortezca but was interrupted when several women brought food for the men. They put it on a long wooden table making everyone drool on the smell and eventually approach the food like bees. It includes Ortezca too.

"Eat everyone! These are the food that have been blessed by the lord, for his ever gracious land giving us never-ending resources for our daily lives, let us give grace to our lord." Ortezca stated and everyone nodded, closing their eyes and giving a short praise to the lord. Everyone ate after.

"Hmmmm!!!~ so delicious! The food cooked by the women are so delicious! I am so blessed!" One of the men said.

"What are you talking about? It is all thanks to Ortezca's recipes!" One of the women said.

"Even my children wanted to eat that 'cake' once again!" Another housewife said.

Everyone were eating happily and those who just came back from hunting, were now eating too. Ortezca was smiling as she looks at them. She has been feeling a bit under the weather and a small pain on her stomach but other than that, she feels completely fine, seeing them happy like this.

'I gotta work for my people more!' Ortezca thought more with resolution.
