"I'm a Warrior"

The pair talked for what seemed like ages. Poe was very easy to get along with and Liladel saw no darkness in his heart. He was honest and very kind when it came to questions she didn't want to answer. Like 'where are you from' or 'where is your family'. She couldn't risk their safety.

It got dark quickly as the beginning of the winter months were closing. The waterfall would soon start to freeze, and the animals would head south to the warmer climates. Liladel would have to say goodbye to Suki for a while. It wasn't fair trying to keep him here just to keep her company. He is his own animal after all.

She soon bid Poe a good night in the early hours of the evening and he could see by her expression she was troubled. He didn't bother asking about it. It would probably upset or possibly tick her off. So he said goodnight and lay on the sofa to rest himself. He wasn't surprise to find he was actually exhausted and fell asleep pretty quickly.

Liladel had retired to her small bedroom around the corner from the kitchen. She had left the stove in the kitchen burning a little longer so that Poe would have a little extra heat. It got very cold at night.

She lay awake most of the night thinking about everything they had discussed. 'Did I really make the right decision hiding? ' she thought.

She tossed and turned in the creaking bed, listening the gentle breeze outside her home.

She suddenly felt the bed dip heavily and felt the familiar warmth of Suki at her back as he snuggled down. He always seemed to know when she was restless. His little hums and grumbles sent liladel off into a deep, peaceful sleep. The presence of another person in the small cabin put Suki on edge, but he felt at ease, and a lot braver with his friend there.

The next morning the sun shone through the little window like a beacon. The shack was quiet and still. He sat up rubbing the sleep from his eyes and stretched his arms above his head. Looking to his left he saw his blue flying suit sitting on the chair at the table. One day that suit would be orange and he would be in the resistance. That his goal, his dream. To leave the days of spice running well behind.

Well, in any case wont be need that suit for a while, he thought bitterly to himself.

As he stood the crinkled edges of a note caught his eye. It sat haphazardly on the table in front of him. It read as follows,

'Don't worry, I've not abandoned you. I've just headed off to town a bit early. You'll find Suki outside. He knows where to take you. Don't be afraid.'

"Great." Poe mumbled.

He pulled on his boot and headed out the door to find Suki. He was met by a wonderful view of the forest. It made sense why Liladel lived so far away from civilization. It really was beautiful there. All that greenery and bird song. It was magical, almost like he was back on Yavin 4.

Suki was sprawled out on the grass sunbathing.

"Come on man. We gotta go." Poe said awkwardly walking up to the beast. Suki got up but didn't look too pleased.

"Look I know we didn't get off on the right foot. We just gotta put that behind us for now ok buddy?"

Suki grumbled but he complied and sat down so Poe could climb on his back. No point arguing.

Instead of shooting off at a hundred miles an hour, he plodded along towards the town at a reasonable pace. Poe smiled smiled a little feeling like had broke through Suki's tough exterior.

They wandered along the shore of lake Nemyv, Maz's temple and soon reach the little town. Once Poe got off Suki the Nexu bolted back into the forest away from prying eyes.

"Where do I go now?"He pondered as he headed into the main square where he saw people with trailers selling absolutely everything and anything. Mostly food, precious fabrics and machinery parts. Poe soon spotted Liladel at said machinery stall.

"You're very mysterious, you know that."

She turned around wide eyed with a little yelp. When she realized who it was she closed her eyes and sighed.

"Don't do that!" She opened her eyes and gave Poe a little bit of a scowl

"Don't do that!" She opened her eyes and gave Poe a little bit of a scowl.

He raise his hands in surrender before checking out the part Liladel had picked up.

"So what are you up to?" He asked gesturing towards the pieces of metal and tools. At this Liladel smirked and began to walk off.

"You'll see. Follow me."

They meandered through the stalls and buildings until they reach a rusty, old warehouse. It was a huge space but it was filled with boxes and benches full of tools, equipment, spare parts and surprisingly of all his A-wing. Well, his mother's.  Poe was stunned.

"How did you get this here?" He stared in shock examining the wreckage. Liladel put down her bits and placed her hands on her hips checking out the craft as well.

"Well it would be too expensive to buy another ship and stealing one world be a waste of time. So I brought it here to one of the best engineers on Takodana. His name's Kuzu. He's owes me and he's kind of an old friend who will help you fix her up for next to nothing. As long as we help that it." She said patting the old ship. The pilot was beaming at her nearly in tears at the thought of his mothers ship being fixed.

"You're going home Dameron." Liladel said simply and a small smile graced her face.

"Thankyou, Thankyou!" Poe said bundling her up in a bear hug. Her feet barely touched the ground as he spun her around and her arms instinctively wrapped around his neck as his arms swung around her middle. The gesture sparked fireworks in the pit of Liladel's stomach.

She giggled as he slowly let her down and they lingered a second staring into each others eyes. It was silent but a energy buzzed in Liladel's ears and it scared her. She backed up and lowered her eyes to the ground.

"Lila, have you seen where I left my bacta spray."   Kuzu's low bellow brought her eyes back to reality. Poe followed her movements wondering if he'd pushed too far. Liladel sighed and wandered away from the pilot.

"Have you checked under the till where you usually keep it?" She shouted back.

"Can I call you Lila." Poe asked smirking, trying to break the ice.

"No."

And back to being bitter...great. Poe though as he went back to examining his. ship.
