Trigger warning: Bullying, homophobia, the word fag is used as well.

James

I jumped at the sound of my alarm. It's so sudden and loud, it seemed to scare me often. I groaned and pressed snooze before laying back down. As I tried to get comfortable, Allen moved closer and I heard him chuckle.

"What's so funny?"

"The fact that your alarm scares you every morning." He let out another small laugh.

"Not every morning." I rolled on my side, my back facing him.

"Mhm. Whatever. Let me get my extra sleep."

I rolled my eyes before closing them, able to get a few more minutes of sleep before it went off again.

Allen groaned. "I don't want to get up."

I laughed as I sat up. "Too bad. You can't miss your first day."

He sat up and rubbed him eyes. "I mean, I can."

"But you shouldn't." I smiled. "I can't go without you, you're my ride."

Allen groaned again. "I know, I know."

"Be quick." I grabbed my toothbrush and left the room.

After about ten minutes, Allen and I were completely ready to go. Allen decided to wear all black for some odd reason, but it looked really got on him. He looked nice, but it also looked like he wasn't trying to look good. It kinda made me envious. He would slick his short hair back and tuck his shirt into his semi-skinny jeans with some black boots, like he was a greaser. He's just so incredibly attractive and he doesn't even try. While I'm here with a mess of hair, no matter how much I brush it. I always wore a baggy polo tucked into my jeans; today, my shirt was just a plain blue and I decided to wear my new Converse. No matter how much I tried, I didn't look attractive so I just gave up.

"Noelle," I shouted. "Hurry up!" Allen and I sat in the living room, waiting for my sister to get downstairs. My mom sat across from us, drinking her coffee while reading a book. "Where's Dad?"

"He went to work early today," My mom said casually before the room went silent.

"Hey," Allen broke the silence. "Are those new clothes?"

"Yep!" My mom jumped in. "The shoes too. I bought them for his birthday."

I felt my face heat up, embarrassed. "Mom," I groaned. My mom smiled and shrugged, going back to her coffee and a book.

"They look good." Allen's comment caused my face to heat up a bit more. "Blue looks really good on you." I tried to hide the smile his compliment caused.

"You know, I said the same thing."

My hands covered my burning face. "Mom!"

"What? I can't compliment my son?" Allen began to laugh along with my mom. "Am I not allowed to say that my son is handsome?"

"No," I muttered.

My mom sighed. "Then Allen should say it."

I felt my heart race as embarrassment completely took over. "Noelle! Come on!"

"Come on, Allen. Isn't James an attractive young man? He never believes me when I say it."

I looked at Allen awkwardly and it seemed like he was uncomfortable, but he continued to laugh. "Mom, leave Allen alone."

"You're very handsome, James." Allen's laugh became a chuckle. "You should listen to your mom."

My heart stopped while all my thoughts came to a halt. I could've sworn my face was completely red. "What?"
