Rey
When Mara first shuffled her way into the hut Rey was sleeping in for the night, Rey had assumed she was there to keep an eye an her, to make sure Rey would make no moves against Skywalker.

But when the moody wolf sat by Rey's cot, her eyes trained on the door, Rey realized Mara was keeping watch over her, protecting her as she slept.

Rey couldn't help a swell of gratitude, and affection.

It appeared she'd made a friend.

A loyal one at that.

She tenatively stroked Mara's muzzle, and the lycan dipped her head in response.

Seemingly an act of appreciation.

"Well, I don't know if terrifying, sharp toothed, lycans sleep, but if you do, rest well Mara."

The wolf rested her head upon her enormous paws, and Rey laid her spare blanket over her.

Here's hoping sweet dreams befall us both.

The strange trills of the odd Porgs awoke Rey at dawn.

She mentally cursed them, then she remembered the events of her morning.

"At dawn, three lessons. I will teach you the ways of the jedi, and why they need to end."

Mara still laid by her bed, her ears shifting as if she heard something.

Just as Mara stood, with a faint growl, Rey felt it too.

The air around her felt strange, and it sounded as if all noise was being sucked away.

There was a strange warmth in the pit of her stomach.

All at once she saw him.

Kylo Ren.

He stood before her, but somehow he didn't.

She could feel him, but not as if he was in her presence.

Mara shifted defensively in front of Rey, but she seemed intrigued.

In a moment of anger she snapped her blaster from her pouch, and fired at him.

He lurched in shock, but no blaster wound appeared.

Rey hurried out of the hut, confused by the phenomenon.

He followed.

As soon as Kylo found them he uttered an order, the force flowing through his words.

"You will bring Luke Skywalker to me."

Rey glared, his words had no power over her.

She held her tongue, still unsure of what was happening.

"You are not doing this, the effort would kill you."

He mused, searching her face.

"Can you see my surroundings?"

He asked, surveying where he was.

That was it.

"You are going to pay for what you did!"

She shouted, anger and grief roiling within her.

"I can't see yours. Just you. And her."

Kylo's eyes became fixed on wolf.

Rey frowned, as Mara cautiously took a few steps toward him.

"Stay away from him, he's a murderer."

She told the Lycan.

"So no. This is something else."

He seemed curious of Mara, his head giving the slightest tilt.

"You have a strong influence in the force."

Rey frowned.

He seemed to understand Mara was far more than an enormous wolf.

A door creaked behind her, and Kylo was suddenly gone, his last word lingering.

"Luke..."

"What's that about?"

Rey jumped at Luke's words, turning back to the hut she'd been facing.

There was now a smoldering hole in the stacked stones of the hut, and small aquatic like creatures examined it, emitting sharp, irritated sounds.

She searched for the words to explain what happened, but some instinct told her to lie.

"I was cleaning my blaster- it went off."

She said, hoping he'd believe she could be that clumsy.

He scoffed.

"Let's get started."

He ordered, beggining to hike up the staircase along the mountainside.

Rey shuffled along behind him, casting one last glance at the strange creatures.

"Who were those things?"

She asked Luke, skipping steps to catch up with him.

"Caretakers. Island natives. They've kept up the Jedi structures since they've been built."

Rey sighed in frustration.

"I don't think they like me."

"I can't imagine why."
