Ben

He heard the waves first.

As he stood, surveying the weapons facility, his posture rigid, his emotions a dark mass within him.

Confusion gripped him, but it took a mere few seconds to connect the sound of crashing waves, to the phenomenon in the force, connecting him to the scavenger.

But it hadn't only been the scavenger.

Another woman had been with her, with piercing yellow eyes, jewelry lining her ears, and dark fur garb.

She carried a presence in the force unlike anything he'd felt.

He sensed the scavenger behind him, and he turned, just as she appeared, and the force enveloped all other sound.

Maybe she was letting on more than she knew.

Maybe she'd somehow caused this connection.

"Why is the Force connecting us? You and I."

He asked.

The strangest sensation befell him, but he pushed it away, focusing on the girl before him.

But just as it left, he recognized it.

Dissapointment.

No.

He had no reason for such feelings.

No connection to that lupine woman whatsoever.

But somehow the smallest part of him wished to see her again.

It was because she was an ally of the enemy, it had to be.

He was ripped away from that thought by Rey's spiteful exclamation.

"Murderous snake!"

He hardened his jaw.

"You're too late. You lost. I found Skywalker."

She seethed, even possibly at opposite ends of the galaxy, her anger and pain hit him in waves.

She was emotional for sure, if she'd surrender to the dark, she could be unquestionably powerful.

"Did he tell you what happened?"

He asked, wishing for her to understand.

"The night I destroyed his temple, did he tell you why?"

If he could get her to see the evil in Luke, she'd turn.

Maybe she'd influence the other woman as well.

"I know everything I need about you."

"You do?"

He searched her face.

"Ah, you do. You have that look in your eyes. From the forest. When you call me a monster."

"You are a monster."

Of course he was.

But monster or not, he was right.

"Yes I am."

He answered, causing her expression to shift.

She would understand, eventually.

·

Mara

It was a strange sensation, how the force brought him to the island.

The man Rey had spoken to earlier.

Mara had seen him before, in dreams, visions.

But the force was bringing him before her, in full conciousness.

She just wished it wasn't as she sat drenched in rain, scraping artwork in charcoal on a cave wall.

"Who are you?"

His voice echoed in the cave, causing her to finally look at him.

No one of importance.

She thought to herself, dusting the excess charcoal off her paw on the damp ground.

"You're far too powerful to be simply unimportant. You could even be a threat."

Her heart stopped, her jaw dropped, and she turned to the dark haired man in wonder.

You can UNDERSTAND ME?

He scanned her face, searching for force knows what, as she gaped.

"I take it thats uncommon."

An involuntary chill crept up her spine, as his deep voice reached her ears.

It must have something to do with this strange connection.

She thought, searching her memories for anything she could have studied involving force connections.

"Its different with you."

Her eyes snapped up.

And that means?

The man, who she'd come to understand was Kylo Ren, let out a nearly defeated breath.

"When the force connects me to the scavenger, it still feels as tho we're thousands of parsecs apart. Being here, with just you, its like you're actually with me. Or to be precise, I'm with you."

You can see my surroundings?

"Yes, its odd. I don't suppose you'd tell me where you are."

Mara rolled her eyes, turning back to her drawing.

"Of course not."

He seemed irritated, but hardly shocked.

Dissapointing him caused a strange ache in Mara's chest, causing her brows to furrow.

"You never answered my question."

Mara sighed.

Which was?

"Who are you?"

She was sure he hadn't meant the question existentially, but she couldn't help the numb feeling the question caused her.

My name is Mara.

She waited in silence for a moment, and by the time she looked up, his presence had faded, he was gone.

Good riddance.

She thought.

Though some part of her didn't mean it.
