Epilogue

10 Years Later

10 years had already past, I'm already 24 and he's already 23 by now. And by now, I still don't know why he left. No connections since the day he left, he blocks me in all his social media accounts and he didn't even contact any of his friends. All I knew is that for 10 years, many came in my life, many tried to be my boyfriend but none of them pass like how Edison did. For 10 years, still you.

"Here's your cake ma'am." The Baker handed me the Red Velvet Cake that I have ordered, I take it and thank the baker. I went out and on the way to my destination, I found a back familiar. His back. I was about to call him but what I saw next was shocking and a very painful scene I have ever seen. I saw him standing in front of a child, smiling and pregnant woman smiling at them also. He has a family now and he's happy with them. That's why I just walked past them but his voice stopped me on my tracks.

"It's been a while, Ms. Lyn Janey Own." I face him wearing a bitter smile.

"It's been a while too Mr. Alex Edison Rale."

"Can I talk to you?" I just slowly nod and he bid farewell to his wife and son, the next thing I knew we were already inside a cafe.

"Look, Lyn, I'm sorry for leaving you-"

"You know Edison, no need to say sorry, it's okay. I'm fine now, I'm not like the time you left me hanging. Besides I'm sure you've reached your dreams, you even have your own family now." He looks a bit taken back by what I've said.

"What do you mean? Do you mean Thea and Amelia? Their not my family Lyn, I once dated someone else after you. Her name was Athena, she's 24 and we are actually in a relationship right now." The cup I was holding fell on the floor making the staff and Edison shock by what I just did.

"T-their not yours? Y-your in a relationship?"

"Oh my gosh! Lyn, are you okay?" I was awakened to reality when I saw staff cleaning up the broken pieces.

"OMG! I'm so sorry, I'll pay for it. OMG, I'm very sorry."

"How much is the cup miss?"

"It's worth 800 pesos, sir." Edison paid for the cup I have broken and I couldn't do anything, he wouldn't let me pay so I just let it be. We went out and walk.

"What can I do to pay you back the money?"

"Nothing, just be yourself and be happy without me anymore."

"W-what do you mean?"

"When we started this relationship, we promised ourselves to be honest and I am keeping my word. What I mean is that be happy without me before you met me you were happy right? And this time I want you to be like what you have experienced and felt before. Happiness. That you don't need someone to be happy nor to feel love only because you think that no one is loving you. We have reached a point where we cannot back down. We know what the consequences of not being together are and we have made the decision to take separate paths. Love feels when it is carried from within, I do not want to continue deceiving or making you think things that are not true. It is better that you take advantage of the time and share your life with someone who truly values you as you are. Keep in mind that you will always be very important to me. You and me not meeting was a good thing. I mean I think it's better to leave it as a good memory than a bad one. I would like to give us a chance again to be happy."

"So you're setting me free? Is that it?"

"Yes, I've already set you free a long time ago, I just couldn't tell it to you straight." I stand up and look at him.

"Okay. It was nice meeting you again Mr. Alex Edison Rale." I extended my hand for a handshake.

"It was nice meeting you also Ms. Lyn Janey Own." He also stands up and extended his hand for a handshake too.

"Goodbye Edison."

"Goodbye, Lyn." And after that, we both separately walked in different paths.

We may have met before and cross different paths now but I'm thankful that I met someone like you.
