Early the next morning, Jimin was standing outside of Jin and Namjoon's apartment door. He was not expected by the two elders, so he knocked firmly on their door, waiting a couple of moments before it swung open.
"Jimin?" Jin asked, adjusting a sweatband on his forehead. "What are you doing here?"
Jimin made a show of displaying his workout clothes. "Here to join you and Joonie for your workout class! I know you guys told us months ago you started at the new gym, and I thought I'd join you!"
In reality, Jimin had no interest in the workout class. He couldn't even remember what type of class it was. But after Hoseok's veiled comment last week, he couldn't stop thinking about Jin and Namjoon. Were they secretly together like him and -
"Oh, sure," Jin said. "We were just getting ready to leave."
Jimin walked past Jin and into their apartment. He eyed Jin's room, looking for clues. Nothing was out of place.
"Do you need something?" Jin asked, watching the younger sift through his belongings.
"Ah, no, just killing time," Jimin smiled.
"Did you smash a clock?" Jin asked from behind him.
Jimin peered over his shoulder. "What?"
"I should arrest you for that," Jin laughed loudly and Jimin rolled his eyes.
"It's too early for one of your jokes."
"Jimin, why are you here?" Namjoon had come out of his room lugging a black duffle bag.
"For some reason I thought both of you would have been happier to see me!" Jimin huffed, looking between the two.
Namjoon ruffled the younger's hair. "Of course we're happy to see you. Are you coming to the wall with us?"
"Sure am!" Jimin exclaimed. "Wait, what wall?"
Two hours later and Jimin was glowering at Jin and Namjoon. They had brought him to a rock climbing gym, one without harnesses and proper equipment. His hands were raw and his ass hurt from falling down so many times. Even though he didn't exactly enjoy the activity, he didn't come away with nothing.
There was definitely something going on between Jin and Namjoon. Small glances, quick touches, and secret smiles were all seen by Jimin. Of course, given his own situation, he knew what to look for.
The biggest tell came when the two went into the locker room to change. Jimin hadn't brought any spare clothes with him, so he waited in the hallway for a few moments.
Deciding to test his eavesdropping skills, he snuck into the locker room and hid in a stall, right opposite to where the elder's were changing. Their voices were low, but he could still pick up some conversation.
" . . . can always go out next weekend instead," Jin said.
"I know, but I wanted to show you it today." Namjoon sounded frustrated.
"I'm not in any rush, Joonie. We have plenty of time."
"Do you think we could sneak out without him?" Namjoon asked.
Jimin heard a smacking noise. "We can't ditch Jimin. God, you're so impatient."
"You typically like that," Namjoon said, a challenge clear in his voice.
"Oh, be quiet," Jin said.
"You know how you can make me quiet."
Jimin's jaw dropped. Yup, there was definitely something going on here. But he wanted to know all the details. The when, the what, the why. He'd have to be sneaky, though. He'd have to be careful so that they didn't know he was onto them.
He slowly opened the stall door, peeking his head out. When he deemed it to be safe, he slipped out of the tiny changing stall.
Just to be greeted by a smirking Jin and Namjoon.
"What you doing in there, Jiminie?" Namjoon asked.
Jimin looked between the two with wide eyes. So much for being careful. "I, um, was looking for you guys!"
"In this single stall?" Jin countered.
"Hm, yup! And see, I found you guys now!" Jimin attempted to walk by the pair.
"Not so fast," Namjoon caught Jimin's shoulder. "Want to tell us why you were spying?"
Jimin pulled his best offended face he could manage. "Me? Spying? That's really rude of you to accuse me -"
"Oh, shush," Jin interrupted. "We saw you come in and go right into the stall."
Jimin balked. He could lie, but he wasn't the best at outright fibbing to his friends. Hiding more personal things, sure, but not when he'd been caught.
"How long have you two been fucking?" He decided for the extreme.
"We're not just fucking, we're dating, you idiot!" Jin yelled, his ears tainted red.
"Ah-ha! Gotcha!" Jimin thrusted his fist into the air.
"Wait," Namjoon looked at Jin. "Did he just - ?"
"Yup," Jin affirmed.
"So," Jimin leaned closer, eyebrows wagging up and down. "Who's top?"
Namjoon threw a hand over his face while Jin only quirked his head to the side. "How do you know what a top is, Jiminie?"
Jimin stared blankly at the two. "I don't live under a rock. Well, anyway, enjoy whatever date you wanted to go on!"
Jimin ran out of the room without looking back.
"Like hell he's just gonna get away with that," Namjoon grumbled.
Jin clasped his hand in his own. "Let's go out now, seeing as we successfully got Jimin to leave us alone."
Namjoon nodded, gathering his bag.
"And after," Jin said, leaning close to Namjoon's ear, "you can show me what a top is."
