As soon as Chris and I arrived back inside, I noticed Ricky was seated on the couch. His hands were laced together, his chin resting on them. He looked up and proceeded to stand up.
"How do you feel?" Chris asked, walking over to catch him before he fell over.
"Worse...can I speak with Kerstin, please?" Ricky asked.
Chris nodded and sat Ricky back down. He walked over to me, grasping my hands and placing a kiss on my lips. "Come see me when you're done." he said. I nodded and Chris walked off.
"Kerstin, come, have a seat." Ricky said, patting the space beside him.
I walked over and sat down. Ricky turned slightly so we were facing each other.
"I'm sorry for missing your wedding." Ricky said.
"It's okay, I understand." I said.
He placed a hand on mine and I held it. He looked at me.
"I wanted to apologize for everything that happened. I'm very sorry about kidnapping you but I knew from the day I seen you, that you would make a perfect vampire and eventually vampire Queen. Chris told me that the Lord Vampire, my father, spoke to him after you were killed and told Chris that he had made an excellent choice. I agree, you are better off with him then I." Ricky said.
My eyes went open when he said the Lord Vampire also known as the King, was his father.
"He's your father? Then why aren't you recieving immediate reign." I said.
"I'm sure one of the boys has told you. It's not about age but about how we present ourselves. Chris is more mature then I and can handle situations in the vampire coven better then I could. His anger isn't as bad as mine, you should know this, having lived with it for four months." Ricky said.
I nodded, he was right.
"Your father will willingly kill you though, because you don't have a bride?" I asked.
"Yes." Ricky said.
I just wished Helena would say yes. I knew Ricky really cared for her.
"In all honesty, and under different circumstances, I would have loved to be your friend, Kerstin. You truly are a sweetheart and I know you care for all of us so much, even if you hate Ryan and I, you still care for us in the same way you care for Chris and the others. I wish I could stick around to be your friend but I suppose karma is karma." Ricky said.
"Don't say that..." I said, feeling tears well up.
"Please don't cry for me, Kerstin. I'm not worth it. I'm just a leech. I deserve this." Ricky said, reaching up and wiping my face.
I leaned close and hugged him, burying my face into the crook of his neck. His arms wrapped around me and he rubbed my back as his head leaned against my shoulder. I pulled back, wiping my face.
"I think you should go apologize to Ryan. I know you care about him and you two need to be friends especially if you're going to be living together for a long time." Ricky said.
I nodded. "Are you going to be okay?"
"I'll be fine. I'm just going to read my book and wait for my final hours." Ricky said, holding up a book he was reading.
I leaned down and kissed his forehead. "I love you, even if you were a pain." I said.
Ricky chuckled softly and returned the kiss to my cheek. "I love you too, and I'm sorry for being a pain but you would have done the same thing."
