I pushed the door to my grandmother's house open with my foot and walked in, Helena followed close behind.

"It's so dark." she mumbled.

I searched my pocket for my lighter and pulled it out, lighting the flame.

"Wow...this place looks amazing.." Helena said, looking around.

I hadn't been in my grandmother's house since the fire. Helena walked over to a little desk that was under a mirror. As she looked in the mirror, she jumped.

"Kerstin!" she said.

"What?" I replied.

"I thought I saw someone standing outside." Helena said.

I shook my head. "It's your nerves." I said.

She calmed down and looked at the pictures on the desk.

"Were these your siblings?" she asked, showing me a picture.

I nodded. "And my grandmother."

"Your sister looks just like you." Helena said.

I smiled. "Thank you."

We sat down in the middle of the floor, after I had lit a candle. We were both silent until Helena spoke up.

"We should just leave." Helena said.

"What?" I asked, looking at her.

"Just leave them. We don't need to be with them..you said so yourself that you hated this life." Helena said.

"Yeah but we have no choice...we're vampires now, Helena." I said.

"So? We can still survive without them..." Helena said.

I sighed and shook my head. "You're pregnant...with Ricky's baby." I said.

"So? I can raise it without Ricky." Helena said.

She was being stubborn. I sighed and stood up. "Helena, you're being ridiculous."

"Please! Kerstin! I don't want to be with them anymore, you think I like this life?"

"No but-"

"I don't! I miss my old life! I miss my family and my friends!" Helena said, crying now.

I walked over and hugged her, rubbing her back. "Shhh, okay...don't cry, please."

"Please...Kerstin...I don't want to be with them anymore." Helena said into my chest.

"Okay..okay." I said.

I took her hand and walked over to the door, opening it. As I did, Helena and I jumped back.

"What are you two doing here?!" I asked.

"What are you TWO doing out by yourselves?" Ryan growled.

"I wanted to show Helena my grandmother's house." I said.

"What did we say about leaving without someone with you?" Angelo asked.

Both of them were pissed.

"I have Kerstin with me." Helena said.

"Neither of you are strong enough to fight on your own! Had you have been attacked, you'd be dead by now!" Ryan said.

Angelo placed a hand on Ryan's shoulder, calming him down. "Ryan's right."

"You didn't tell Chris, did you?" I asked.

"Or Ricky." Helena chimed in behind me.

"No but we should." Angelo said.

"Please don't!" I said, grabbing Angelo's hands.

Angelo sighed. "We won't but you two are in serious shit."

"Get your asses in the car." Ryan said.

The two of them turned to lead us back to the car, but as they did, they were knocked in the face by something hard.

"Angelo!" I screamed, as he fell to the ground. He was out cold.

Ryan groaned and looked up. "Shit.." he mumbled.

"You thought you could hide from us forever, did you?" one of the guys said.

Ryan rolled over as one of the guys kicked him in the side, he groaned.

"Leave him alone!" Helena yelled, hitting the guy.

"Ah, you must be the one with vampire child." the guy that hit Angelo said.

Ryan crawled over to Angelo as the guy kicked him again, making him yelp in pain. I heard one of Ryan's ribs crack and felt a tightening in my stomach. Helena screamed as the guy grabbed her, forcing a rag over her mouth and nose.

I watched as her struggling slowly stopped and eventually she went limp.

"That was easy, what do we do with that?" the guy asked.

"Kerstin...run..." Ryan said lowly.

"Ah, you're Cerulli's wife, are you not?" the first guy asked.

I didn't respond.

"Kerstin...run...now!" Ryan said.

The guy kicked Ryan once more in the face before turning back to me. I pushed him out of the way and ran past him. I knew I should go back to the house and tell Chris but I went the other way. I heard the car tires screech and the headlights flooded in front of me.

I screamed and jumped to the side. The car stopped and a pair of heavy footsteps headed in my direction. I tried crawling away but the hands that were attatched to the body that belonged to the footsteps grabbed my ankles, dragging me back.

I screamed and dug my nails into the dirt, desprately trying to grab onto anything that would keep me from going with these men. I knew who they were, by the way they treated Angelo and Ryan. They were the vampire hunters that were in our house four nights ago and now I had gotten myself and Helena in a siuation.

--

Helena was begining to wake up. We had been in this dirty basement for an hour now. I looked over at her. My body was black and blue and sore. I had gotten a beating for trying to "run" from these guys. The bruises hurt worse then the ones Motionless In White ever gave me.

"Kerstin?" Helena asked quietly.

Luckily they didn't put a finger on her.

"Yeah, I'm here." I said.

"Are you okay? What's wrong?" Helena asked, hearing the weakness in my voice.

"They hurt me, Helena...but you're okay and that's all that matters." I said.

I was leaning against the damp wall of the basement. I never thought in a million years that I'd ever find myself in a basement again. Not only that, but chained up in one. I heard Helena's chains move as she tried to make her way towards me.

"They don't go that far." she said, tugging on hers.

"I know." I said.

The door opened and light streamed down, making my eyes burn. I hissed and heard a man chuckle as his footsteps descened the stairs. Another light, the one in the basement, came on and I heard Helena gasp as she got a good look at my bruised and beatened body.

"Have you learned your lesson?" the man asked me.

"Go to hell." I spat.

"Apparently not." he said and got up, kicking me hard in the stomach.

"Stop! Leave her alone, please!" Helena screamed.

"Helena, stop." I hissed.

The man looked at Helena and smirked. "I hope you enjoyed the last moments of freedom from those vampires that you'll ever get...because you're not getting out of here alive." he said.

With that, he turned and kicked me once more before turning the light off and going back upstairs. I curled into myself, trying not to cry. Helena was crying softly and I decided to try to get through to Chris in my mind, praying it would work. For the sake of Helena and her baby, if anything.
