jihyo excused herself from her family, trudging off to her old room as she sat down on her bed, eyes locked to her phone. calling jeongyeon quite hastily. she was a little worried, she definitely didn't want jeong to be alone for christmas or anything. see, jihyo usually spends her breaks from college back at home and with family; her family however, lived a little far so she would have to leave her friends for a long time as a result.

she didn't get many responses to her calls, though for what seemed like ages, jeong finally picked up.

"jeongyeon! you worried me you shit." jihyo snapped playfully, laying down on her bed. "you alright?"

"yeah."

"you're lying, jeongie. it's obvious."

"jihyo im fine. go back to your family."

"no."

"whatever."

jeongyeon turned over on her bed, pulling her hood further over her face as she heaved out a sigh. "hearing your voice is nice." she cooed softly.

"it hasn't been that long since i left."

"your point?" jeongyeon uttered, voice low. in all honesty, despite being popular, jeong was lonely. at least at the moment. christmas was never fun for her, gosh no. her sister would visit her family, her friends would spend time with their own family. jeongyeon would stay at home, laid in a darkened room whilst binging movies. why didn't she visit her family? she never felt,, welcome. she loved her sister and such, and appreciated their effort to get her an education. but she just felt uncomfortable around them.

would she tell jihyo?

no.

to jihyo, jeongyeon was a cocky, confident girl who almost never seemed to get offended.

to let jihyo see a side like this would be an embarrassment.

"so how's your christmas? bet you regret leaving." jeongyeon spoke.

"it's actually really great here. i missed my sisters. i can finally baby them again."

"damn. well it's nice to hear you're having fun."

"why aren't you doing anything ?"

"everyone's busy."

"well im here for some time." jihyo responded simply. jeongyeon could almost see the soft smile resting on jihyo's little face, those wide eyes gleaming with a sense of tenderness and an everlasting feeling of comfort radiating from them.

"it's not the same, hyo. i wanna be there with you, i wish i could see you." jeongyeon whined, gaining a chuckle.

"sucks. well, when im back we can have our own mini christmas. i'll bake, we can bury ourselves in blankets and watch movies together." jihyo suggested.

"sounds great." the older hummed. that didn't help her loneliness now. she wanted jihyo with her now. she wanted to wrap her arms around that petite body, holding it close in an embrace. jihyo's fingers lacing their way into jeong's hair. nestled together, a peaceful silence drowning out the room.

unfortunately that isn't the case. right now, jeong was just huddled in a blanket, the only form of lightness being from her phone. clothes scattered messily across the room, empty plates, glasses, bowls etc. she let the feeling of loneliness creep up on her and engulf her in a tight bear hug — dragging her further into darkness.

she knew when jihyo would come back she'd be the light distraction guiding her out.

but that'd be in six weeks.

they say christmas is 'merry' but right now that was the complete opposite.

jeong really yearned for the younger. it was crazy.

she loved her.

she was snapped out of her mood when she heard a young voice sound from jihyo's end.

"jihyo-ah. who are you talking to?" a tiny voice called, jeong assuming it was jihyo's youngest sister.

"no one, jiyoung. go back downstairs with your sister!" jihyo hummed, earning a pout from the youngest. "she's busy talking to her boyfrienddd."

"someone's jealous." jihyo snickered.

"am not!"

"whatever you say. i'll be down in a bit! we can wrap up on the sofa and play lots of games, does that sound alright?"

"yes! alright then.. love you jihyo, bye bye."

jihyo chuckled as a response and shook her head, redirecting her attention to the call.

"talk about mom material." jeongyeon mocked, "you two say 'i love you' a lot?"

"shut up. it comforts her."

"you're so good with kids. that's reassuring for when we have kids." jeongyeon smirked, her tone playful. jihyo's face did gain some warmth, rolling her eyes as she protested.

"oh because we'll definitely know each other after college." jihyo huffed.

"you don't think we'll know eachother?"

"i don't know. we might get swept up with work and shit. you know, proper adult stuff."

"yeah i know. but i don't ever want to leave your side. i don't ever want our friendship to fade." jeongyeon said, she wanted to see jihyo in her future. whether it be in friendship or more, she felt an attachment to her.

"fine. promise to never leave then? even when things are tough." jihyo offered.

"i promise. now have fun with your family. we can talk later."

"alright ! merry christmas jeongie."

"merry christmas."
