He had flooed to the Hogwarts express. He was excited and anticipating a wonderful trip. He dragged his cart of things with him along with an owl he had bought for himself. He named her Hedwig. She was a beautiful creamy white with black specks all along her feathers. He got onto the train and watched as his parents kissed Alex goodbye. He kept his feelings inside as he wasn't going to cry in front of new students.
A blonde boy inspected each compartment before finally opening the door to Harry's and calling his friends inside.
"Hi I'm Draco Malfoy and this is Crabbe and Goyle."
"Nice to meet you," Crabbe said with a smile on his face.
"What's your name?" Goyle asked as Crabbe waved down the treat cart and buying four chocolate frogs.
"I'm Harry Potter," Harry says confidently, taking the chocolate frog Crabbe had offered.
"Don't you mean Alex?" Draco asked curiously
"No I mean Harry, I'm his twin"
"I have never seen you at one of his parties" Crabbe glared at Goyle.
"Well would have loved to be there. I guess I've never really had a party. It is the Boy who lived."
Draco shot a worried glance at Crabbe.
"So you've never had a party?" He finally asked after a moment of silence
"I guess not." Harry tried not to sound sad, but his face said it all.
"Well, when we get to Hogwarts we can celebrate your half birthday," Draco says smiling at Harry.
"That sounds nice."
The rest of the trip Harry spent listening to Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle's stories. When they finally arrived, they were all in robes, and Draco's hair was gelled, but not slicked back, after Harry pointed out that it made his forehead look big.
When they arrived in the hall, Harry was in amazement. It was wonderful and the scent of fresh food filled the air. The candles dripped wax as they floated above student's heads. The hall was loud, yet it was a comforting noise. The noise of children laughing and talking with their friends, or people pouring themselves glasses of pumpkin juice and water.
Straight ahead was the sorting hat, waiting for Harry, He still had no idea what house he would be in, but he hoped for Gryffindor. He really wanted his dad to be proud of him, maybe get him some posters or decorations for his barren room.
Soon Alex was called, and as expected he got Gryffindor. Then, Harry's name was called.
"Harry Potter"
Whispers roamed the hall.
"Harry who"
"there's another Potter?"
"Why is he never with Lily and James?"
The most surprised look came from Professor Snape. He and James had never gotten along well, but he and Lilly had tea during the summer every Sunday, yet he had never seen or heard of Harry. Harry began to fidget with his fingers as he scurried up to the stool and sat down
"Hm... You so desperately want your parent's approval. You want them to treat you and your brothers as equals. You are determined and cunning, I know the house for you...."
SLYTHERIN
The whole hall gasped as Harry quickly headed to Draco, slightly ashamed. Snape was even more shocked than before. After the ceremony, Draco, Crabbe, Goyle, and Harry sat happily and ate. Talking about random things and laughing. Harry was happy, but he knew his parents wouldn't be.
The next morning, Hedwig brought Harry a red envelope. he slowly peeled the seal and the letter began to scream.
HOW DARE YOU! SLYTHERIN? YOU ARE EVIL! THAT HOUSE IS EVIL! DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW THIS WILL AFFECT ALEX? DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO THE POTTER NAME? HARRY JAMES POTTER A SLYTHERIN!!!?
The letter burst into flames and Harry was on the edge of tears. He ran out of the hall as everyone staired. Draco almost ran after him, but Crabbe pulled him back down.
"He needs time."
Harry ran. Why couldn't this one time they forgot? They never remembered him before. They never cared about him before. Tears flew down his face. He was evil. He was evil, that's why his parents didn't love him. No one mourns the wicked. (someone has to get the reference)
He washed off his face and grabbed his books for the next class. He wished they hadn't cared.
He walked into potions about thirty minutes early. Snape stared at him in confusion.
"Do you care to talk about what happened in the Great hall, Mr. Potter?"
"It was just my parents," Harry says looking at Snape, "They pick the one time to care, notice me," he says it barely below a whisper, but Snape heard, and Snape had a sense of what was going on. Harry had the look of a long-forgotten soul. Could Lilly really forget her own son? Could he be this deprived of love?
"Sometimes I just wish I was Alex," Harry says sounding like a disappointed puppy.
"Harry, I'm sure you are a fine young man, and as your head of your house, I am always here for guidance," Snape says a little less coldly than before.
"Thanks," Harry says, right as Draco walks in for class.
