Harry and Draco came into the ball as it felt like all eyes were on them. Harry nervously adjusted his crown of silver as Draco tried to fix his already crooked tie. The first song came on and Draco had almost knocked Harry over as he dragged him to the dance floor. Draco led and Harry followed the 1..2..3 beat. Draco would twirl Harry and dip him elegantly. It felt like it was only them, and all a sudden all the cares in the world were whisked away. His parents, the fear for the death of his brother, his truly horrendous childhood, left with a blink of an eye. The lights twinkled as the background seemed to blur behind Draco. His platinum blonde hair freely whisked around as the turned in a circle together. Harry smiled and so did Draco, and on their last dip, they kissed.

Harry blushed as they walked off the dance floor. Harry went to sit down only to be confronted by Lily and James. Their eyes were filled with an eerie surprise. His eyes looked back at theirs and he almost seemed to shatter. Their surprise had been replaced with looks of pure disappointment.

He quickly looked away and took Draco's hand. He led Draco to the dance floor and soon he was once again entranced in the beauty of the night. Meanwhile, his parents had other ideas going through their minds

"A dress.." Lily whispered to James as they watched over the students.

"I didn't even know he was gay..." James said still slightly glaring at his son

Lily watched her son's eyes light up as he danced with Draco, the way hers lit up when she met James, but still she couldn't burry a slight disapproval. A dress... her son was in a dress. Harry floated on his feet looking around at the beautiful decorations.

He didn't care. He told himself he didn't care, but of course, he did because while his peers seemed to accept his choice, his parents were having a hard time hiding their disappointment. Their looks pained him, but Draco made it go away every time they started to dance.

James had other issues, completely divided from Lily's. He was dating a boy. He was dating a Slytherin, and he looked as dainty as a girl in the dress. While Alex had a tall muscular build, Harry was meek. He looked at his son. His son was acting like a girl, and honestly, he was disappointed. He knew they were trying to make amends with Harry. They had honestly ruined his childhood and created a burden on his life, but James was struggling. His dad had always taught him men should be men, but while he was raising Alex he forgot about AHrry. He never taught Harry to be a man, and that was his disappointment.

What James didn't understand, is that it wouldn't have mattered if he was there for Harry or not, because this was Harry. This would have been Harry no matter how he was raised.

The night seemed to go as faster as Draco and Harry danced. Soon it was time to leave, and Draco and Harry were tired. They headed to their dorm and changed into nightclothes.

"Blaise is still out with Pansy" Draco gave Harry a small peck which led to a full-blown makeout session.

Blaise opened the door and Harry got off of Draco's lap.

"Knock," Harry said as he went to his bed.

Blaise opened his mouth to give witty comeback, but quickly shut it and went to his bed. Draco shut off the lights and with that, ended a nearly perfect day.
