Tomorrow is a new day. Harry sat in the common room, waiting for Draco to get breakfast with. His hair was as messy as always, but it had a certain level of class and shine. He was wearing a Slytherin robe with a plain green tie. His collar was slightly poped and his glasses had been replaced by a pair of contacts.
Draco came out only minutes after Harry, hair perfectly in place and straight. His robes were a little sloppy, but Harry happened to find it cute.
"Let me fix your tie," Harry said smiling and leaning in towards a kiss. Draco smiled at him and put his arm around Harry, escorting him to breakfast. They walked in and sat down with Crabbe and Goyle.
"Did you hear that the Potters will be staying for a few days?" Crabbe asked worriedly looking at Harry.
"I already talked to them," Harry said almost emotionlessly, "I'm not going crawling back to those people. I don't need them."
Somewhere deep inside Harry, he knew that was wrong. Could anyone truly be whole without any love from their parents? Parents who may not have raised them but gave birth to and lived with them. People they watched give love to another child for so long. People who they wanted a hug from for so long. People who they used to see every time they got off the Hogwarts express to go and stay with another family. A family, who were always very nice, but they weren't his family. They never would be his family, but sadly deep down, he also knew his family would never truly be his family.
Draco watched Harry as he stared off into space, deep in thought. His eyes were locked on one boy across the lunchroom, Alex.
"Draco," Harry said not wavering in eye contact with Alex, but tapping on Draco's shoulder, pointing "You have better eyesight than me, is that my journal."
Draco looked at what Harry was pointing at. Next to Alex was a beaten-up old book with the name Harry on the front. Alex was talking to Hermione and Ron, too deep in conversation to realize Draco and Harry were both watching him.
Draco pulled Harry up from the table and walked over to the dreaded table of Gold and Red. He snatched the book quickly from Alex's side.
"I believe that is my boyfriends," Draco said walking backward back to the Slytherin table. He kept a death stare on Alex the whole time.
Harry woke up from his shocked state as they sat down. They looked into each other's eyes. Harry smiled and Draco gave him a quick pec on the cheek.
"Don't make us the third wheels," Blaise said with food stuffed in his mouth.
Harry giggled a little and put the journal in his bag, without a second thought. Alex on the other hand definitely gave it a second thought.
So many things were swarming in his mind. He didn't know what to do. That journal had changed everything for him. It made him finally see his brother, and truthfully he needed it. Alex looks over at Harry and Draco. Harry looks happy. Isn't that all that mattered? He was happy.
That wasn't how the Potter couple saw it though. They had a plan. They were going to go to the Slytherin dorm to simply have tea with Harry. To simply make a simple gesture to try to reach out. They were even going to invite Draco Malfoy as a sign of goodwill.
After classes, Harry came back to his parents and a basket of scones and biscuits along with a tea set. Harry honestly didn't think much of it. It was nice of them to try to reach out, and starting small is what Harry needed.
Soon after the first tea was a success, tea became a daily tradition. Their bond began to grow, and they seemed to like Draco too. Draco was still skeptical, but he was just being protective.
All of this changed when the names came out of the goblet of fire.
"Cedric Diggory" All cheers, all claps. He looked happy and excited to try something new.
"Fleur Delacour" Polite claps for a polite girl.
" Victor Krum" The room filled with loud thunderous applauds as a broad shoulder teen, stood and almost bowed at the crowd.
".......Alex Potter" It was silent. You could see the look of shock on everyone's face. He was too young. He wasn't going to make it. Would the Boy who Lives die?
The most worried, understandably, were the Potters.
