Harry woke up after a long long weekend to find that Draco was already up and out of bed with his hair ready and uniform perfectly in place. Harry groaned slowly crawling out of bed, not caring how lazy or imperfect he looked compared to Draco. He put on his uniform and attempted to brush his unruly matte black hair, but gave up after Draco started to complain.
"Harry," he said in a whiney tone" I'm hungry" Harry grinned and put down his comb.
"Well then we can go, but you can't complain about how my hair looks later."
"Don't worry Harry I always have hair gel and a comb in my bag." He smiles playfully as they exit the room. Harry rolls his eyes secretly smiling at Draco.
They arrived in the great hall, only to be met by Alex Potter.
"Well Well Well, If it isn't Crybaby." He teased, blocking Harry and Draco from going to sit down, "You going to leave every time you get a letter?"
"Back off Alex, at least my vocabulary has expanded since we were in Kindergarten," Harry says smirking before pushing Alex aside to sit down.
Once when Harry was young he so desperately sought the approval of his twin. They were linked, but over time Alex became an incompetent nuance and harry began to despise him. He still wished for his parents to pat him on the back though. Many people forget that Harry was only eleven at the time. He was still young and slightly innocent even with the emotional abuse and neglect he had to endure.
Draco gave the stink eye to Alex all breakfast, trying to protect Harry like he was a hurt puppy. Harry giggled at Draco's antics as he lightly buttered some toast for the both of them.
"Well aren't you protective," Crabe states while pouring himself a glass of pumpkin juice.
'"Ugh we have potions next. Potions! I love Snape but you have to admit the tension in the air is unsettling." Goyle says while trying to help Crabbe with the juice he spilled, "Especially with Alex and Snape, ever since he found out about Harry's home life like it wasn't bad enough before."
Harry rarely ate a large breakfast seeing as at the manner, he usually didn't eat at all.
"I'm gonna head down to potions," Harry says grabbing his stuff.
"We'll come too," Draco says as Crabe and Goyle agree. Goyle grabs one last piece of toast and snacks on it along the way. They reach Snape's classroom, only for Harry to hear to very familiar voices, James and Lilly.
"How could you neglect your own son," Snape says raising his voice,
"Alex needs all the love he can get and it's not like the freak cares," James says bluntly just as the door squeaks open, revealing Harry and his friends.
Harry was awestruck. Was he really a freak? he knew his parents would be upset about him getting into Slytherin, but he didn't know they would hold it against him, or was it never about Slytherin? Did they simply hate him? Did they hate their own flesh and blood? Is that why he never got presents or love? Is that why they never talked to him or bothered to say happy birthday, or simply tell him his own name?
He was on the verge of tears, but he held them in, simply going to his seat and setting down his stuff before trying not to look panicked rushing into the bathroom. Draco stared at the Potters. How could they hate someone that much, someone they made and raised?
Draco rushed after Harry, followed by Grabbe and Goyle.
"OUT" Snape yelled "You will not stand in my classroom and talk illy about one of my students. I don't care how much you hate Slytherins, I don't care how much you may hate me, and I don't care how much you love Alex, I am in charge of Harry and your actions will not be tolerated here. You can see your son when you are ready to be adults and apologize to him, try to make amends. I will find him a place to go for Christmas, but I promise he won't be going back to your house AM I UNDERSTOOD?" Snape stares straight into Lily's eyes almost hoping to find the young innocent girl he once knew, but she had changed. He stayed silent with an icy cold demeanor. He opened the door wordlessly and once again beckoned for them to leave.
Meanwhile, Harry was in the bathroom sobbing, his head on Draco's lap.
"I really thought they would finally accept me at some point if I was good enough" Harry chokes out between sobs. Draco strokes his hair as Crabbe and Goyle help him calm down.
"I know it's small, but you can stay with me for Christmas Harry," Draco's voice was soothing and he started to talk about the ball they have every year at his house. Harry smiles and wipes his eyes
"Yeah, that sounds nice," Harry says slightly smiling once more. Draco grins at his mood change and helps him up.
"Well then let's head to potions," Goyle says helping Crabbe up.
The Slytherin four walk into potions looking as they hadn't even seen Harry's parents. Harry took his seat next to Draco and pulled out his supplies. He now had a support network, and truly that's all he really needed.
Thank y'all so much for 102 reads! I know it can get annoying when I celebrate the small milestones, but I really am so happy! As always any content in this book is up for grabs as it is a fanfic, but I don't own Harry Potter or any of JK Rowling's creations. Happy New Year XD and thanks for reading
