Harry waited patiently for his parents to show up for tea, as they had missed it for the last week. He understood. Alex was in serious danger, but at the same time, they only ever had tea for an hour tops. Harry had gone out of his way to hand bake the treats mini thumbprint cookies, scones, and Harry's favorite, Treacle tarts. He sat patiently in their usual spot for over an hour, before Draco finally went down to talk to him.
"I'm sure they are just busy," Draco said putting a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"No, they forgot about me. The minute anything happens with Alex, they forget about me." Draco looked at his boyfriend.
His face looked defeated, but it looked like an expression he had worn many times before. It almost looked natural. Tears silently slipped down his face, as he moved in closer to Draco. He put his head on his lap and let slow faint tears fall down his cheek and into the grass. He stared at the lake as Draco brushed his hands through his hair. He hated seeing him like this.
Harry had tried to open himself up. He knew it would be a bad idea. Opening old wounds that had long been turned into untouchable scars. He really did want his parents to remember him.
"Hey, you know it's Saturday, lets head to Hogsmeade," Draco said turning his boyfriend to look up at him.
Harry smiled a little and gave a faint nod. Draco planned on doing it late, but he had set up a cute, as Muggled called it promposal, for the Yule Ball. They walked on the path to Hogsmeade. Harry was on Draco's back piggyback style. He had cheered up a little bit.
"Ride my Draco, Ride Like the wind!" Harry exclaimed with a huge smile on his face. He received weird looks from passing customers, but he didn't care.
They arrived at Honey dukes just in time for Draco's plan to be set in motion. He signaled at Crabbe who was conveniently in the corner. Crabbe pulled on some sort of rope that let down a banner hanging above. The banner was colored a silky emerald green with the words "Will you go to the ball with me Harry?"
Harry looked at Draco who was on his knees with a ring pop in a box. Harry smiled at the muggle treat and through his shock managed to say yes. He practically jumped into Draco's arms, placing a passionate kiss on his lips. Draco smiled and slipped the ring on Harry's finger and one on his. He also pulled out the real present, promise rings.
"Harry James Potter, I know you heard me talk to your brother about a month back, but especially for the Yule ball, would you accept this promise ring?" Draco asked smiling widely at Harry.
Happy tears freely flowed down Harry's flushed face. He put the ring on and admired it in the light. It had a cross-section of two silver snakes wrapping around each other with two green stones at the end of their tails, serving at rattles.
Harry was so excited. He had to get an outfit for the ball. Maybe he could go shopping with like Pansy. Harry and Draco headed over to the tavern to grab some food and butterbears. This had to be one of the most exciting days of Harry's life. For the day he forgot about his disappointment earlier. For a day, he forgot about all his disappointments, and just focussed on his Happiness.
After about 30 minutes, Alex comes running through the door,
"Harry," Alex said frantically, "I need to talk to you..."
