"Bev! I can't ask him! I'm just a geek and he's the most popular guy in school!" Richie exclaimed, clutching onto his biology books for dear life. "Plus, he flirts with every girl he sees. He's a player."

Beverly smirked, tucking a strand of ginger hair behind her ear. "I don't know Rich, he doesn't have a girlfriend and he hasn't dated anyone all year. Just... pull him aside when he's not in his little group and tell him how you feel. If he's a decent human being, he'll accept it and go on his way without making fun of you."

Richie sighed, looking toward the group of girls huddled around his crush since his childhood.

He suddenly got a wave of confidence and nodded. "I'm gonna do it, I'll tell him now."

Bev smiled. "That's the spirit! Now go tell him before I run over there and tell him myself."

Richie handed his books over to Bev, which she dropped. He sighed, picking the books back up and handing hem to her again. "These are my bio books, Bev. Don't ruined them or I'll ruin you!"

Bev used one hand to push Richie toward to huge crowd of girls. 'Come on Rich, you can do this. It's not like you've been hopelessly in love with him for years now. There's nothing to lose,' he told himself, approaching the group. All of the girls looked at him in disgust and moved away, almost as if they were afraid of catching a disease. A confused Eddie stayed leaned up against the lockers, looking at Richie.

"Hey, Rich! Haven't seen you in a while! Ladies, give me and my old friend a minute please?" He shooed them away, causing the girls to groan and disperse.

Richie was amazed at the power Eddie held. He could make those girls bow down to him with the snap of his fingers. Richie couldn't even get a foot close to one of them without them running away. Not that he was interested in girls anyway, he just wanted a friend.

"So, Richie, what's up?" Eddie smiled, running his hand through his soft brown hair. Richie always admired how nice it looked everyday. Even as kids when they played in the mud, his hair was always perfect somehow. Richie sighed, his hands trembling at what he was about to tell his distant childhood friend. "So, Eddie... I-I think I have feelings for you"

He could tell Eddie was surprised by his eyes widening and the red tint glowing on his freckles cheeks. "This isn't some joke you made up with that Beverly girl, right?" He looked around to see her smiling in the distance.

Richie shook his head, looking into Eddie chocolate brown eyes. "No joke here, just the truth that I've been hiding since we were kids." Richie couldn't believe the amount of courage he was displaying. A kind, soft smile appeared on Eddie's face. "I think I like you too Richie."

Richie's heart raced. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Now this better not be a joke mister, or I'll hit you with my comic book," Richie giggles, taking his hands out of his pockets. Eddie smiled, taking Richie's hand in his. "No joke here, just the truth that I've been hiding since we were kids too."
