Chapter 12 ~ Hit and blood

"God, wasn't Victor saying the weather is lovely this time of the year?! I can't see shit"

Sam complained while the three ran away from the mercenaries for their lives.
Gunshots fell around the area and barely escaped them.
Which was not the case for the mercenaries.

"Just keep heading down until we hit the water", Nathan said.

Sullivans voice appeared on the radio.

"Guys, they're shooting at my plane. Hurry the hell up, or you're rides gonna sink"

They slid down until they finally reached the water.
However, shots still fell on them until one of them was hit.

Y/N fell into the water and when she felt a prick in her waist under water, she knew she was being hit.
But she continued to swim upwards until she reached Sully's plane.

Nathan pulled her up and Sam pushed her up from below.
When they were all on the plane, they flew away.
What the men didn't realize was that Y/N was hit and blood was flowing through her shirt.

She groaned in pain and covered the gunshot wound.

"Oh my god, Y/N, you're bleeding," said Nate.

"Oh, don't talk shit," she said with pure sarcasm, grinning at it.

Sam noticed this and knelt down to Y/N.
His expression changed to worry when he saw that she was hurt.Nate quickly brought an aid box and got the bandage out.

"Here"

He handed the bandage to his older brother.

"Hey what's going on back there?"

Nathan looked questioningly at Sam.
His brother nodded and they decided to tell Sully. He would notice it anyway after landing.

"Ah ... Y/N, she was shot"

"WHAT ?! god damn it ... quickly get the first-aid kit. Back out -"

"Yes yes we are already there. Don't worry", Sam shouted at him.

"Where was she hit?"

"Uhh ... right, at the waist. But it doesn't seem to be a deep wound," Nathan assured.

Sam pulled her shirt up a bit to take a closer look at the wound.

"Uhh, Nathan can you hand me the tweezers over"

"Do you just want to get the ball out of her like this?"

"That's exactly what I'm going to do"

Nathan looked at him uncertainly and sighed. Ultimately, he gave him the tweezers.

"All right ... Y/N you have to firmly biting the cloth. It will hurt"

"Ready?"
She nodded.

Sam went into her wound with the tweezers.
She cried out loudly, but the cloth in her mouth silenced it. Nathan held her arms tight.

The painful screams hurt even Sully. He is startled to hear the girl screaming in pain, who is like a daughter for him.

When the bullet was finally out, Sam treated her wound.
She breathed in and out quickly and heavily, causing Sam to gently caress her cheek to calm her down a bit.
He kissed her forehead and they smiled at each other.

Nathan cleared his throat and gave them a towel to dry off.
Sam and Y/N sat on one of the aircraft benches and dried their hair.

"Hey sweetie. How are you back there?"

"Shot. But still safe"

"How soon can you get us to Madagascar?", Sam asked.

"No treasure, then?"

"Not yet", Nathan answered.

"I don't know what you're talking about" , Sam said and shows them the coin he got in the cave.

"Jesus... and you think the rest is in Madagascar?"

"There was a chamber back there with a giant map of Madagascar on the floor, so... Yeah, it's probably there", Nathan said.

"This is the beginning to smell a whole lot like wild goose, kid"

"Look, the treasure was never in Scotland, okay?"

"Then what was the point of all that, huh? Of the Saint Dismas cross", Sam said.

Also Y/N took part of the conversation.
"Look. It's like I said, I think Avery was recruiting people. The cross was an invitation. The cave were just some sort of... initiation"

"I don't get it. Why the hell would they go to all that bother just to weed people out?", Sully asked.

"To protect himself. Avery was the most wanted man in the world at that time. He had to enlist people that he could trust in order to keep their treasure secret"

"Whaddya mean, 'their' treasure?", Sully asked again.

"Just think about it. Thomas Tew was a successful pirate in his own right. What would he possibly stand to gain from joining Avery?"

"I think Avery sent out crosses to the other wealthy pirate like himself. What if they pooled and hid all their treasure together?"

"That would make the Gunsway haul look like chump change", Sam said.

"Exactly"

"Ho ho, holy shit. Okay, so where exactly in Madagascar are we going?", Sully asked with exitment.

"Kings Bay. It was an old pirate haven back in Averys time, but the map completely caved", Sam said.

Suddendly Nathan started to laugh.

"What are you laughing at?", Y/N asked confused.

"The people who survived the caves... the recruits. What's the one thing they would've left with?"
Sam looks at the coin.

"There's a volcano on this"

"Huh... and there's a volcano near Kings Bay. Which means we need to get to a move on".
