Chapter 26: Maddie
When Red and I were just pups, he and I would do everything together: play in the mud, get in trouble, play tag, we even caught our first mouse together. It was great until she showed up. So one day we were playing like usual then we heard the alarm to hide, the signal to protect means that there is a new wolf in the clan, so we ran to our hiding spots like we usually do in the drills. Like all things, Red and I shared the place, and then this happened. They said that there was a new pup; her name was Maddie. At first, we all hated her expect Red and me. She would always try to get Red to leave me and play with her, and it never worked because Red and I have been there for each other since day 1. And then this happened he finally gave in, and that was when I lost him to Maddie. We would never hang out, and when I asked him if we could play, he would say no and growl. I was hurt that I would only ever leave the den if my mother came or to eat. At one point, my mother sent me to the mage to see what was wrong. The mage said that I was unable to be fixed and that I lost the one thing that we all hate to lose: our only best friend.
