SIERRA

"Friendship is a craving for solidarity."

Since everything was falling apart and out of sync, I had to keep one thing. I had to do one normal thing and then everything might fall into place. I stared at my reflection in the mirror and sighed. My eyes were dead, no one lived behind them. I pulled my hair back into a ponytail as I grabbed my bag. I was able to use the money Aunt Paula sent to fix the door and replace some of the furniture in the house. She also sent me a car, a silver Toyota. My mother hasn't returned and my father isn't answering any of my calls or Aunt Paula's.

I was a little late for class, which is a first time thing but I wasn't fazed by it. The halls were empty and quiet. This was my first day back in a week and I've never dreaded anything before this day. I pushed open the door to my English class, only to be met with thirty pairs of eyes.

"Ms. Leones! How nice of you to join us again. Your presence was missed, please take your seat." I nodded at Mr. Fink, taking my seat to the front of the class as he returned to scribbling on the board. Xavier and Toby exchanged glances beside me, arguing about who'd approach me first.

"Hey Sierra?" Ander whispered behind me. I glanced over my shoulder at him and he smiles.

"There's that pretty face. Are you okay? You've been ignoring our calls-"

"Yeah and we drove by your house a couple times but no one was home." Percy interrupted. I was very much aware, I didn't have the energy to answer the door.

"Yeah! Everything's fine!" I replied, forcing a smile before returning to my books. When class was over, I rushed out, avoiding them and I continued doing so for every class. Many times I'd hear them trying to chase behind me but they'd always lose me in the crowd. I didn't have any classes after lunch so I decided to return home to sulk in solitude. I yanked my keys from my bag, unlocking my car only to look up and see Percy, Ander, Toby and Xavier leaning against my car.

"What the fuck?"

"We know something's up with you Sierra. You're not that good of a liar." Xavier stated.

"And if you think we're letting you off just like that, after ignoring us for a week, you have another thing coming princess." Toby uttered. I sighed, biting down on my lip to refrain from crying.

"Look Sierra, we care about you! We want to be there for you."

"Yeah! You're our little Sierra!" Ander teased as he winked at me. I chuckled, crying. Their huge arms, engulfed me into a warm hug and I've never felt so loved.

"Damn you, Sierra!" Ander mumbled.

"Dude are you crying?" Percy laughed as Ander hit him upside the head, causing us all to laugh.
