I cant believe this. the place where I grew, where I made the best of friends, where I had my first boyfriend, and where I started my period, disappeared within a few hundred feet.
I don't understand my parents.
We were completely happy. perfect. a nice house, amazing neighbors, a great community. But my father could disagree about everything being 'perfect' about California.
He hated his job, his boss, and the working environment. so he took the first job offer he got and we packed up and left.
I watched the afternoon summer sun warm up everything around it out my window. I turned the radio up and The Beach Boys "Wouldn't it be nice" blared from the car and I smiled. I turned to my mom. "Mom?" i asked. "Yes dove?" she replied. I sighed. "When will we get there?" she turned to me and smiled. "a few more minutes, I need to stop for gas." I nodded my head and looked ahead. We stopped at a small gas station.
"I'm gonna fill the tank up, wanna go inside and get a snack?" my mom asked. I nodded my head and checked the overhead mirror. I swiped some crumbs of my face and flattened my brown hair and grabbed 50 cents as I hopped out of my moms red corvet.
