I looked around at the small town out of the car window. I noticed a pattern of different social groups, like there was this tall lean man wearing a brown leather jacket lighting a smoke against the lamp post, or a group of giddy girls wearing sweaters and long skirts.

There was this blue mustang that kept on going around town, looking for trouble I guess. The car wouldn't stop yelling and bickering at these kids on the sidewalks.

  Jerks. I thought.

I leaned my head against the car window, humming a song.

"Here" my mom said.

I looked up. It was a nice house, I mean probably just a bit smaller than are last house but it wasn't that bad. I grabbed a few bags from the back and hauled them up to my bare room. It'll do. I dropped the bags against the white bed and went down the hall to explore the rest of my house.  I looked in my parents room, and noticed my dad wasn't here yet.

I sighed and checked the time, 4 o'clock.

Just 2 more hours.

I decided to take a nap, i was tired anyway. I laid down on my bed, looking up at the ceiling.

That boy. Soda. So damn dreamy. maybe this place wont be so bad after all....

I woke up around 5, just in time to get ready. I was deciding on my outfits, yes, I wore sweatpants most of the day, I had to wake up around 6 today. It was dreadful. Especially in the beginning of summer. I decided on my green plaid skirt and green top to match. I guess I dress fancy. I like to impress.

After i finished getting ready, I ran to my car to grab a few necessities for my room. I hung up my Elvis poster, gosh he was my love. I hung up another poster of Paul Newman and Robert Redford together for the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sun-dance Kid. I love them. I hung them over my bed and kissed Paul's cheek. I smiled and unrolled my Beach Boys poster and took out my Crosley record player and put in A Hard Days Night record and let it spin and spill out tunes in my room, giving me cheery vibes.

I went down the stairs with a song stuck in my head to find my mom sipping her herbal tea.

I swear shes a hippie, but shes always denying it. She was braiding her long blonde curly hair, her eyes on the news paper in front of her.  She was reading about the Vietnam War. It just broke out in March. And yes, honestly its scary. Shes participated in many protests, my dad doesn't like it, but I do agree with my mom.

She always quotes her favorites when shes reading the news

Make love not war.

End war before it ends you.

And my personal favorite,

Bombing for peace is like fucking for virginity.

So I guess you could say I'm a hippie, I support civil rights, but have opposition for the war.
