"And what will it cost, the life of another?"

A young man questioned the captain of the ship, clutching a Bible to his chest.

"You know that this is wrong." His voice shook slightly, and the captain laughed loudly.

"Boy, we pirates do many a bad deed. Do you know how much blood is on my hands? What does it matter if I take another life?"

The old man flashed his rotten teeth, and the gold and silver replacements shined, even though it was but a dull sparkle.

"And besides, this treasure be causing no death. Only the wings of a wee little fairy, you see."

"That is ridiculous. Fairies only exist in fables, children's stories. You are wasting your time on something that isn't real."

"From my point of view, you be the one wasting me time, lad." The man nodded at two large men. "Lock him up below deck."

The pirate ignored the young boy's pleas, and turned to his loyal crew.

"Let's find us a wee little fairy!" The group cheered in agreement, and set off to find a winged creature.

"I assume that you come back empty handed?" The prisoner said, his eyelids drooping in annoyance.

"Actually, we have not." The captain slammed a glass bottle on the table, which held a tiny girl inside of it.

"I don't believe this... This is... a doll, and nothing more..."

But he still stared in awe as the fairy glanced up at him, meeting his eye.

 "Beautiful creature, innit?"

"She's absolutely breathtaking." The younger man agreed.

"I'm glad you think so, because you'll be the one taking care of it." The captain informed him, smirking.

The prisoner stammered.

 "Why... Wh.. Why?"

"You're both prisoners. I won't be wasting my time fairysitting." With that, the pirate turned and left.

Cautiously, the man tipped the bottle so that the girl could slide out onto the table.

"Hello there. I'm Edward." He introduced himself.

The fairy did not answer.

 "Do you talk, little fairy?"

" Yes... " Came her quiet reply after a few minutes. "Are you to be trusted?"

"Yes, of course. I —" he stopped, watching the girl flutter around him, before landing on his head. He could feel her taking shelter in his messy and unkempt hair.

"Very well then. I guess you'll be fine up there, won't you?"
