"YOU MET WITH BATMAN LAST NIGHT?!"

"Shh! Not so loud, Lizzy!" Alexis said as her friend, Elizabeth, covered her mouth. "Sorry! But still, you saw the Batman last night?!"

"Yes. I mean, I was a little scared of him at first, but then as I was talking to him, he didn't seem that scary." Alexis said as she began to write her notes for class.

"Either way, that's still pretty awesome. But, you still haven't told me why you went." She said as Alexis looked from her notes to Elizabeth and sighed sadly.

"You know, it'll be the 1 year anniversary of my Dad's disappearance..I just needed answers. Clues. Anything that would bring me to the conclusion of whether my father is alive or not. I want to believe he's still alive. I really do." Alexis admitted as Elizabeth nodded in understanding.

"Are you going to need any help?" She asked as Alexis shook her head.

"No. If Batman said he's going to help, he'll help. And if he doesn't, that's when I'll need your help." She said before smiling over at her best friend. Elizabeth smiled back before they went to writing their notes again.

"So, I've got book club later on. But I'll meet you at your house right after. We still have to do that project for Caesar-" Alexis began to talk to Elizabeth, but she stopped mid sentence and saw the one person she did not want to deal with.

"Oh, look. It's Dick from hell." Elizabeth joked dryly as Alexis tried her hardest not to laugh. They saw Dick Grayson, along with some jocks, walk their way.

Dick had winked at Alexis and all she did was roll her eyes in disgust before both her and Elizabeth walked away.

"What was that about?"

"Let's just say I got one less problem without him." Alexis said as Elizabeth's eyes went wide.

"Wait..you two use to DATE?!"

"What? No! No, we were more like rivals. Very competitive rivals." Alexis said while she rolled her eyes. "Oh, for a second there, I thought you were going to say you guys had dated."

"Trust me, it would be the last thing I ever do." Alexis said before they entered the cafeteria.

Alexis left the Book Club after school, tired like crazy, but had enough in her to go to Elizabeth's house and help with their history project.

Just before leaving the school, she felt she was being watched and she looked around. She looked at her level before she looked up at the roof. She saw four dark figures standing on the roof across from the school and glaring slightly.

She knew it was Batman and his former sidekicks. They probably were spying on her for something. She wasn't sure. One thing's for sure though, she still refuses to join their team. There was no way she was going to be on a team with the guy she hated so much.

"Hey! You're late!" Elizabeth shouted as Alexis looked down at her watch.

"Yeah, by like three seconds." Alexis said with a roll of her eye and a smirk. "Either way, that's still late. Come on in, I got some hot cider in the kitchen waiting. I'll grab our project."

Alexis nodded before she walked into Elizabeth's house and closed the door behind herself. Elizabeth's house wasn't that big of a house, but it was big. It had a large living room with a flat screen sitting up on a wall, a large sofa and a loveseat, the kitchen was as big as a bedroom, and they had a small chandeiler hanging from over top of it.

Alexis always felt at ease at Elizabeth's house because it felt like home. She felt at peace. Maybe it was the way the house felt, or maybe it was because she knew she would be safe at her friend's house.

She wasn't sure.
