"So, what did Ben Franklin do again?"
"Seriously, Lizzy. You still don't know that one. We've been talking about it for weeks!" Alexis said as Elizabeth chewed on her pen and stared at the picture of Benjamin Franklin on their poster.
"I...I can't remember."
"OMG, Benjamin Franklin was a Independent party politician that drafted the Declaration of Independence. We went over this!" Alexis said while laughing.
"Whatever. You know I can't ever remember anything." Elizabeth said while rolling her eyes. Alexis rolled her eyes too once more before she smiled.
Before they could get back to the project, they heard knocking at the door. Alexis looked at the door before looking at Elizabeth.
"Are you expecting anyone?" She asked as Elizabeth shook her head. The knocking continued for a split two seconds before it started into a pounding. Elizabeth grabbed Alexis' forearm in fear as the pounding continued to the point the door was about to bust down.
"Elizabeth, run to your room and lock the door. I'll meet you in a second." Alexis said.
"What?! No! Please don't leave me alone!"
"I have to do something real quick. Just go!" She shouted as Elizabeth ran up the stairs. Alexis looked towards the door, took her gloves off, and used her powers and froze the locks down shut so the door couldn't be knocked down from the outside. She grabbed the communicator that Batman had gave her the previous night before she ran up the stairs and towards Elizabeth's room.
Just as she got to her door, she heard the front door burst open from downstairs and Alexis' heart began to race.
"Elizabeth! Open up! It's me!" She whisper shouted as she heard the soft click of the lock and the door opening. Alexis quickly dodged in her friend's room before the door was quietly shut and locked.
"What do we do?" Elizabeth quietly asked Alexis as Alexis looked at the communicator in her hand. "I think we should call for help."
"Call the police? But they won't get here in time!"
"No, not them. Someone else." Alexis said just before pressing the button on the communicator. "What did you just do?"
"Batman gave a communicator of his in case I changed my mind about the team. But right now, we need his help." Alexis said as she looked towards the door. She heard loud footsteps coming down the hallway and Elizabeth immediately covered her mouth with her hands to prevent herself from screaming.
The footsteps got closer and closer until they stopped in front of Elizabeth's door. Alexis looked at Elizabeth and pointed to her closet, as if telling her to hide. Elizabeth nodded before she quietly ran towards her closet and shut the door silently.
Pounding was hard on Elizabeth's door and Elizabeth had let out a loud muffled scream, but it wasn't loud enough to be hard over the pounding on the door.
"I know you two girls are in there. Come on, let's have some fun and play." The man on the other side of the door said as Alexis' heart raced in fear. She clenched her hands to her chest, knowing how her powers would get out of control if she continued to fear.
She closed her eyes and began to calm herself down before glaring at the door and opening it herself.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Winters' daughter. Man, I've heard a lot about you. Especially, that you can't control your little magic with out your Daddy. Too bad he's not here to protect you." The man said while whipping out his blade.
"See? That's what men like you don't get. You think females, especially teenagers, are vulnerable and don't know how to protect themselves when they're at their weakest." Alexis said, causing the room to start to freeze up. Even Elizabeth was beginning to feel the drop in temperature.
"Where'd you get that one? A fortune cookie?"
"Yeah. A fortune cookie that I like to have cold." And before she knew it, she blasted at the guy's arms, causing him to scream and holler in pain.
"Alexis!" Alexis looked behind herself and saw Batman standing in the shadows of Elizabeth's room and soon walked into the light. Her power had died down and she looked at the man and realized what she did.
"Alexis, it's okay. Calm down." He said while Alexis lowered her arms and began to shake visibly.
"Crazy bitch!" The man shouted before Batman came out of the shadows, into the light, and knocked the man out. Alexis began to hyperventilate as she stared at the man and what she did.
"Alexis! Oh my God! Are you okay?!" Batman heard as he looked towards the closet and saw Alexis' friend, Elizabeth, burst out and went straight to hugging her best friend. "Alexis! Hey, it's okay! It's okay. Calm down. It's over! It's over.."
Alexis started to calm down a little, quickly hugged her best friend, not dating to let go.
