We were off. Hand in hand with Launi, we made our way to the marked dent in the gate. Only then I noticed the brawl happening less than 2 doboshes from us. 6 rebellion soldiers were fighting to take down 5 guards. They succeeded. We continued. Only when we reached the digger did Launi let go of my hand to help point the digger in the correct position to the dent at the base of the Gate. My hand felt cold.
As the digger was thrust into power, it immediately was under the ground in a matter of ticks.
Dirt and metal shards where kicked back as it dove further.
'This might take a while!' Anthony shouted, over the noise.
'Guess we'd better get comfortable', Launi sighed.
We sat down and talked. We talked about our lives. It was quite nice to talk to another Iron about living in constant fear of our homes being destroyed by Platinums. Because they can. Because they need a story, and a 'mysterious' breakdown is ripe for the taking. It's like we can't have happiness anymore. Not until...
'We will stop it.' Launi said abruptly, waking me from my absentminded rant.
'We will live in peace again'. The determination in her eyes made me believe we really could do it, as crazy and far fetched as it seemed, we could. Only now was when I noticed the little gold flecks in her blazing silver iris', like little shiny stars in the clear crystal sky.
'Your eyes...' I started but when realising I was speaking I shut my mouth and turned away, but not before I got a glimpse of her gold blush.
'UP! UP! WE HAVE REACHED THE CONTROLLER!' Anthony's shout broke the defending silence. We jumped to our feet, glad to b rid of that awkward moment and brushed ourselves off. The soldiers started marching and we followed, aware of the rumbling beneath us. The soldiers descended into the tunnel and we waited as they piled in.
'You ready to end this?' Whispered Launi, somehow audible above the loud footfalls.
'As I'll ever be.' I whispered louder, with a small smile. She smiled back and we were off, down, down, down the dark tunnel by the light of the candle drones above us. The tunnel was a strange half-soil and half-metal. Guess that would be The Good Lands, a mix of pride and loathing, pushing our staple material to our side. At the end of the tunnel there was a soft blue light, emanating from a hole in the end. As we got closer I could see a little inside, and that the walls were covered in aqua blue lit-up pipes and dials and... clocks? I guess that was due to our time zones being different. We neared the rim and Launi made a move to jump in, everything was happening so fast I just shouted 'WAIT!' Everything around me stopped. The only thing I knew was Launi's hand in mine and her eyes fixed on me.
'Let's go', she said, definitely. And we jumped.
