I walked back to Leila and helped her up as she asked me to.
"Can you help me get to the toilet? My knees hurt so much!", Leila asked me.
Leila literally begged me with a whining voice and my heart melted.
I picked her up and held her in my arms in an instant. This pure and cute girl could never be tarnished by any evil.
This promise is what I kind of made myself decide on. This urge to protect what is important to me kept me going in a way I had never experienced before.
However, my heart and mind weren't in peace. I felt a disturbance and loss but the origin was weird. Was it that I knew how lonely my parents would no stand in our house and worry themselves to a coma?
But wait! I couldn't worry less about them now. What counted was the moment and those suffering civilians. Many elders, children, and a few young adults and teens.
Well, the reason for the loss was easy to find out. Who couldn't hear suppressed whispers at a closer focus on the chat topics?
To stop thinking I finally moved to the toilet where Leila, my little angel, guided me to. A very clean and constantly checked cabin and toilet. The sink was right out the door in the dirty front room of the small house I got shown.
To give Leila some private space I took a few steps away from the door just to hear a shriek outside. God no!!!
The shadow was closer than ever! I didn't care about privacy and nearly ruined the wooden door. In a matter of seconds, I also think Leila understood the problem we were in. No other person at a distance of 50 meters and no weapon.
The idea that saved us two while we sat there shaking and hugged each other was brilliant.
"Let me try to scare it with a scream! My voice has a similar pitch I could try!"-"L-Lei"-"Shh, be quiet big sis! It is charging towards the door!"
Her assumption was right and my color went from pale to white as a sheet. her fingers pierced into my arms as she hid in my embrace.The steps hurried towards us and fast thuds could be sensed as the floor vibrated from the heavy steps.
