Many Months later
Hazel's POV
I walked into Jack's house. I saw him standing in the kitchen, his eyes on his phone. I ran up and jumped onto his back.
"Shit! You scared me!" He screamed, grabbing my legs to keep me from falling off.
"I know," I laughed back at him. He set me onto my feet and turned to face me.
"So, what's the plan for today?" He asked. I walked over to his fridge and opened it, scanning for something to drink.
"Art museum?" I suggested, pulling out a water bottle.
"You go there all the time!"
"So?"
"Let's mix it up a bit. Wanna go to the football game?"
I groaned in response but he just rolled his eyes at me.
"Why in the world would I want to go to a school sporting event? You know nobody likes me." He just gave me a surprised look.
"That's not true!" I scoffed in response. "Whatever, it's fine. How about the movies?"
"What's out right now?" I asked. He shrugged his shoulders and pulled out his phone.
I found myself staring at him again. His eyes lit up as he read, biting his lip slightly.
Stop. I can't get feelings for my best friend.
"Ah! How about The Fault in Our Stars? That's supposed to be good, right?"
"Well, it's a girly movie. Great book, too. I just don't think you'd have a good time. Let's just stay in and watch a movie here. You have Netflix."
He thought it over for a while, giving an over the top thinking expression. I knew he was messing with me and rolled my eyes.
"Fine," he finally said laughing.
"Wanna text Jack?" I suggested. The three of us always watched movies together.
"He's on a date." He said nonchalantly.
"What!? He didn't tell me! With who?"
"Seriously? Wow. Maybe he didn't want you to know... Forget I said anything." He quickly walked away, cursing himself.
Why the hell didn't Jack want me to know? Did he think I would be jealous? We kissed once, and that wasn't supposed to make things weird between us.
I snapped out of my thoughts and hurried after Jack. He was in the basement and Netflix was already up. I jumped over the side of the couch and landed next to him.
"Ninja girl," he muttered with a laugh.
"I'm still mad for not telling me about his date." I crossed my arms and faced the tv.
"Oh come on. You can't be mad. I'm just doing it for my best friend and you would too." He had a point, but I refused to break. There was no turning back. "You can't be mad forever," he added wrapping his arms around my waist, pouting his bottom lip.
I just glared forward. I tried to ignore the feeling I got when his thumb brushed against my skin where part of the hem of my shirt had ridden up. He probably noticed my reaction to the contact though. He wrapped his arms around me tighter, suffocating me. I started flailing and slapping his arms.
"I won't stop until you forgive me!" He shouted.
"Okay!" I choked out. I think he noticed I couldn't breath, because he loosed his grip.
"Okay what?" He teased.
"I forgive you, Jack! Now let me go so I can breath!" He released me and I took a deep breath. A worried expression flickered over his face. He probably thought he had actually hurt me.
I started laughing to let him know I was fine. He let out a small chuckle.
"Good. Now, what movie do you wanna watch?"
