Chapter 3

Nicole's P.O.V. 

Right when I woke up I felt like someone was stabbing .y side and my throat was all scratchy and dry. I reached over and grabbed my glass of water and drank half of it, then popped a cough drop in my mouth. After I sat up I threw my hair in a messy bun and called for my mom. "Moooommmm," I said in a scratchy tone. "Yes honey?" She said with a curling iron in one hand. "I'm not feeling good my stomach hurts and so does my throat," I said taking another drink. "Oh okay. Well you can stay home, I just have to run into work and do a couple things but then I'll be home."  I nodded then she went back to her room. I picked up my phone and I saw 2 messages from Austin. One said, "Hey good morning:)" then the other said, "see ya at school:)" I wish I was feeling better so I could go to school but I just couldn't. I got out of bed and went into my bathroom and started brushing my teeth. While I was brushing my teeth I grabbed my phone and texted Callie, "Hey sorry not gonna be at school today:( tell me how school goes!" I shut my screen off but the right away I got another message. Before I checked it I spit then wiped off my mouth. "Awwww:( hope you feel better best friend!! I'll tell you how austin looks today;)" I just smiled down at my phone then set it aside.

I managed to build up enough energy to go down stairs in the living room. Plopping myself on the couch I grabbed a blanket and the TV remote. I clicked the power button then went to netflix. About 30 minutes later I cough myself watching the Princess Diaries 2. Which was like my favorite movie when I was 7.

"Okay, I'm leaving now but I'll be back soon. Just rest then I'll be home," she said grabbing her purse and keys. "Okay," I said laughing at the part when she falls in the water foutain. It felt good just resting and having a lazy day even though I was popping cough drops left and right.

Austin's P.O.V.

"Where is Nicole?" I said walking beside Callie. "She's home sick, sore throat and stomach hurt," she said continuing to walk at a fast pace. Then Alex came behind us and swung his arms around me and Callie's necks. "Hey a couple of my favorite people," he said with a smile across his face. "Hey babe," she said putting her arm around his waist. "Where's Nicole?" Alex asked looking confused. "She had a sore throat and a stomach ache," I said looking to my left, only to see some girls smiling and waving at me. So me being at nice guy and all I waved back and gave a quick smile.

"Well gotta go to class, I'll catch up with you at lunch," Callie said giving Alex a quick hug and kiss goodbye. "Bye love you!" He said smiling at her. When she disappeared Alex broke the silence. "So you got the hots for Nicole," he said winking at me. "She's pretty and smart so kinda," I said putting my hands in my pockets. "Every guy likes her so you got some compatition," he said looking concerned. "I'm not worried, I'll see you at practice," I said patting his back then jogging off.

Callie's P.O.V.

It felt weird not having Nicole here. She's been gone before but I just haven't felt this lonely in a long time. I also feel like me and Alex are growing apart but I won't let it happen. I just brushed it off and continued walking to my next class.

While I was walking past some of the hockey players were picking on a new girl at school. "Hey, back off," I said walking up to them. "Walk with me," I said taking her arm and pulling her beside me. "What's your name?" I asked her. She was pretty, long blonde hair, dark blue eyes, and she was wearing leggings, pink vans, and a white scoop neck shirt. "Emma," she said looking at the ground then at me. "Your pretty, let's be friends," I said laughing. "Thank you, haha what class do you have next?" Emma asked me. "Earth science, how about you?" "Same, let's go to class," she said leading me towards Mr. Benson's class.

Nicole's P.O.V.

After I finished my movie my mom got home. "I'm back, how are you feeling?" She asked me coming around the coner. "A little better just really tired," I said yawning.  " Let's take you upstairs," she said grabbing my glass and taking it to the kitchen. I went up the stairs and climbed into bed. My mom came into my room and set a glass of water on my side table then layed another blanket on me. "Get some rest," she said giving me a kiss on the forehead then left my room shutting my door. After that I fell right to sleep.

Austin's P.O.V. 

I walked into the locker room after basketball practice. I'm worried about our game next week. We verse the Seahawks and people say they're pretty good. But I'm not gonna let it get ahead of me. I took off my shirt and put some more deodorant on then my pink muscle shirt with my plain black shorts. I pulled out my phone with 2 new messages. One from my old friend Haley and another from Alex. I kinda felt worried when I saw no 'Nicole' on my phone. I texted her just wondering how she was feeling but she never answered back.

I saw Callie walking with Alex so I ran ad caught up with them. "Has Nicole texted any of you guys," I said looking at both of them. "Nope," they both said at the same time. "Okay, well I'll talk to you guys tomorrow," I said jogging to my car. I pulled out my keychain and put it in the ignition.  I backed out of the parking lot driving home.

When I got home still no message from Nicole. I was worried and a little sad that she hasn't said anything. I texted her one last time and asked if she was okay but after I got out of the shower, still no reply. I layed in bed then turned to my left side looking at my clock. It was 11:30 but I couldn't fall asleep. I didn't know why...maybe it was because I was worried so much but I finally fell asleep after staring at the ceiling for a half an hour.
