KYLE

I woke up to the sun shining bright in my room, I groaned half asleep rolling over putting my arm around Kehlani pulling her into my body burying my nose into her hair taking in her smell. Just as I was about to fall asleep I heard a growl and a weight on the bed. I laid still feeling a nose touch my leg that was outside of the blanket.

"Kehlani, wake up" I whispered into her ear. She groaned moving making my eyes grow wide.

"Get the dog" I whispered slowly moving my arm off her so she could sit up and get the demon dog.

"Kong" She said sitting up and his head jerked up. I let out out a breath moving to sit up as she patted her legs. He moved up the bed and she pet the dog smiling. I was going to have to buy her a dog once she got rid of this one. She was going to be heartbroken but I was terrified of the damn thing.

"Kong. He's nice, we love him. You have to be nice or else I can't keep you" She told him like he was a person. I sat up making the dog look at me.

"Don't you want like a Pomeranian or something?" I asked her raising an eyebrow.

"No. I don't like little dogs" She told me looking over at me as the dog laid down between her legs resting it's head on her leg making me groan.

"Yeah that's my favorite place to be too buddy" I told him, Kehlani laughed at me shaking her head as I laid back down. I was not ready to get up but now I didn't have a choice.

"Hopefully you can earn his trust. It was a man beating on him so it might take a while" She told me looking over at me but I shook my head no.

"You are getting rid of it" I told her seriously. She nodded her head looking down at the dog sadly. She ran her nail carefully over its cheek while it just stared at me.

"Try to pet him" Kehlani told me touching my arm. I sighed sitting up, I slowly moved my hand to towards the dog. I growled and I went to move back but Kehlani laced together our fingers bringing my hand closer. Lord please don't let this dog use my arm as a chew bone, I like playing basketball. He smelled me and Kehlani guided my hand over his fur and then moved her hand away.

"You're a good boy, Kong" She whispered and I took my hand away.

"How did it even get it's name?" I asked annoyed that she had even named it.

"Skull Island. They say 'That's Kong...he's king around here' and that line is so hard and I liked it" She smiled brightly. The dog huffed standing up coming over to me. I moved back but Kehlani touched my thigh.

"Don't be scared" She told me but this dog had beef with me for so unknown reason. He smelled my chest growling and then took his spot back with Kehlani.

"We gonna talk about what you did?" I asked her laying back down.

"Nope because it's done and there is no changing it" She shrugged moving around the dog laying on my chest. I wrapped my arm around her keeping my other behind my head.

"Kehlani, I'm serious babe. I don't want you doing that kinda stuff, I can barely function without you next to me. The last thing I need is some street thug snatching yo life over a dog" I told her seriously. I closed my eyes hating the idea of that ever happening. It made me only want to protect her more. I needed her here with me and I wouldn't lose her over something so petty.

"I know it was dangerous Kyle but no one else was doing anything. He was letting out these horrible howls of pain. It's not like he even pulled the gun, he just showed it to me and I simply reminded him using a gun against me would ruin his street reputation. I seen in his eyes he wouldn't do anything" She shrugged. I sighed closing my eyes. Only Kehlani King would chose to take a bullet for a dog. I sat up bringing her with me making her complain the whole way. I turned facing her taking her face between my hands making her look at me. The dog growled but Kehlani touched it making it lay back down. I looked into those honey-brown eyes that pulled me every time.
